Altro? — Restaurant in Bologna

The food was really lovely, a huge shame about the service.

We went for dinner for a casual sit down meal. We were brought the wrong drinks but didn't say anything because we didn't want to be a pain, however it is the start of a pattern. My partner's meal was given to a table next to us (the waiter had 2 dishes, and gave one to me and one to a diner sitting alone, who came in afterwards) and the waiter didn't seem to notice anything was missing until we asked, after waiting for ten minutes to see if the food was coming. My partner was given the dish he ordered as it happened to be the same one as the other diner, so we assumed that he was given the other diner's order (eventually). We then had to wait at least fifteen minutes after being given the menus back to think about drinks/dessert (despite there being no drinks/dessert on the menu they gave us) while the waiters seemed to ignore us and chatted. The place was busy but not full and they weren't rushed off their feet by any means. We felt very forgotten about and it took a very long time to get the attention of a waiter and ask for the bill. I hate complaining about service because I know waiting tables can be a soul-crushing job but it was just not good at all, we wouldn't go back even though the food...

Servizio scortese, cibo mediocre e pessima conservazione dei vini. Non ci metterò più piede da Altro e non lo consiglierò mai a nessuno.

Se sei capitato qui in una serata affollata di fine settimana, potresti aver avuto la presunzione che questo locale alla moda, con la sua disposizione avant-garde di stand gastronomici, offrisse anche cibo e bevande di qualità e che il personale fosse gentile. Questa era l'impressione che avevo anch'io in precedenza.

Quando abbiamo portato degli amici di famiglia in visita in Italia, li abbiamo condotti da Altro prima del picco della cena. I miei ospiti, che erano qui in visita come famiglia, stavano semplicemente mangiando la pizza e sono stati trattati in modo scortese per un semplice malinteso. Ma non solo scortesemente, puntando loro il dito come se stessero rimproverando un bambino. Mi sono vergognato di come potessero comportarsi gli staff Altro.

Li hanno trattati così perché non erano italiani? Non lo so, ma è ciò che sembrava. Solo dopo avermi lamentato in lingua italiano, evidenziando la loro maleducazione, il membro del personale si è difeso dicendo di aver solo cercato di "fare il suo lavoro".

Forse perché sono sempre così affaccendati e ricevono molti clienti di passaggio, non hanno mai sviluppato le competenze di base nel servizio clienti o nelle relazioni umane, e in questa occasione, quando non c'erano le ore di punta, abbiamo visto questo comportamento in piena luce. Tutti meritano un minimo di rispetto. Consiglierei al personale di Altro di ricevere una formazione sul servizio clienti.

Inoltre, non suggerirei di bere vini rossi al loro bar, poiché li mettono in lavastoviglie, che sicuramente rovina...

Stumbled upon randomly and what a nice discovery. Simone the waiter is exceptional! I had “small” (would have been for 4 back in Switzerland) charcuterie and cheese board. I think I’ll eat the leftovers over the next 2 days. And tortellini in broth. Wine was 6€ and it was excellent! Was suggested by the nice ladies of the Sfoglia pasta shop, right across the street from the market I’ll give 2 stars for the toilet...
