I’m not sure what has happened to this restaurant.. (most of) the reviews make it seem like a nice place to eat. And the food in previous reviews looks nice. Our experience tonight was unfortunately not so good. The waiter was really nice, so this is not on him - although he did explain one of the dishes was with short homemade pasta and we received spaghetti..
There was a lady dining inside the restaurant yelling and making a rukus the whole time which made the atmosphere quite awkward. It later appeared that she was attached to the restaurant in some way (maybe an owner?) as the gentleman she was with stayed behind when she left and appeared to also work there. I’m not sure what the rules are in Italy but he lit up a cigarette inside, then proceeded to walk into the kitchen with it.. yuck and unhygienic in my opinion!
Then we have the food, broccoli that seemed more like spinach than broccoli, super over cooked and not nice tasting. The crab could come with some correct utensils to make it easier to eat, and the gnocchi was unfortunately just ok.. not something you expect when in Bologna, the food haven of Italy. I have had better frozen microwave gnocchi in Australia.
And I have read the reviews, so before you respond that must not have been in your establishment, please see the photos that I was. I would advise you take some of this feedback and just do better, there is a restaurant around the corner that is absolutely smashing it and you could take some notes from them.. and in future ditch the yelling angry lady...
Read moreThe food was very good. But... The waiter was aggressive and impatient. When we said that we didn't want to sit downstairs where the live music was playing because it was too loud, he directed us to a table outside, just in front of the entrance. Every time he went outside or back inside (the waiter was pacing restlessly and singing to the music below), the floor under my chair bent, which made sitting there quite uncomfortable (not mentioning the rocking table). He could have easily given us a table inside or a table that was less in the way as there were very few other customers... He insisted on speaking to me in a broken English when I talked to him in Italian (even though my Italian was clearly better than his English). When I told him that I wanted to eat the tortelloni dello chef, he tried to talk me into ordering a different dish (paccheri con aragosta) that cost more than twice as much. It's either a touristy restaurant (close to the train station) or I got the wrong waiter. In any case, the food was very good and beautifully presented, but the...
Read moreThe food was very good but the waiter's behaviour spoiled the whole stay there.
I like to leave tips in restaurants where the food is tasty and the service is nice. But the kind of waiter's behaviour that happened to us here is unacceptable and needs a Google review.
The waiter extorted a tip, when I was paying he quickly walked away with the cash and was surprised that I wanted change. He emphasised 2-3 times that he tipped the place separately. I paid €31 for my meal, I gave him €50 cash, so he should refund me €19 (over 60 per cent of the bill). He was surprised that I wanted the rest back. At the end, when I wanted to tip him he stood over me and emphasised that he tipped the place separately.
On top of that, only when I finished my meal and asked for the bill did he say that you can't pay by card, only cash.
Due to the very unpleasant treatment I would not...
