I recently had the opportunity to dine at Taj Mahal in Bologna, and while the experience had its highlights, there were some notable aspects that left room for improvement.
Let's start with the ambience. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was quite average. While it didn't necessarily stand out, it provided a comfortable and casual setting.
About the service, the staffing seemed insufficient, with just one employee managing the front of the house. This led to delays and a lack of attention when it came to ordering. At times, the employee was missing, making it a challenge to place orders or inquire about the menu. The restaurant's location, though, was definitely a plus. Placed in a good spot and very near to the city centre.
As for the food, I ordered the fish masala and bhindi masala. Unfortunately, both dishes fell short of expectations. The fish masala had an issue with excessive oil, which took away from the overall taste and texture of the dish. The bhindi masala, had a very basic taste that didn't quite live up to the complexity of flavors one would expect from Indian cuisine. The surplus oil in the bhindi masala was also a concern, giving the impression that it had been prepared without proper attention to quality.
In conclusion, Taj Mahal in Bologna provides an average dining experience with aspects that could use improvement. The ambience and service are passable, but the lack of staffing leads to delays and missed opportunities for...
Read moreDelicious food and fantastic customer service! Reserve online for a 20% discount on a-la-carte. Buffet on Thursdays. One of the few Indian restaurants with authentic taste and freshly made dishes, especially the fried ones (We had samosa and aloo tikki). The owner is a very friendly and accommodating person. I cannot stress enough his customer friendly nature and service. No wonder his restaurant is running well over a decade and is being constantly reviewed highly. We requested for a tomato based cottage cheese (paneer) gravy and he had one prepared especially for us. We also requested some hot water and grated ginger (to ease my sore throat) which he happily served us at no extra cost. When we pointed out that we had had only 2 bottles of water but were mistakenly charged for 4, he deducted the extra amount within an instant and without any fuss, which shows how much they value not only a customer, but also a customer's word. We visited several times during our one week stay in Bologna and the same top notch standard of all the dishes was maintained every time... not to mention that we specially requested for the cheese gravy each time and it was always served to us with a smile. The Indian breads cooked in the tandoor (oven) are to die for! So tasty and soft! Do try the garlic cheese nan (Indian bread stuffed with cheese and garnished with garlic). It's extremely filling! Definitely a must-visit-restaurant in Bologna for...
Read moreI can compare with best nepal cuisine restaurant in whole Czech republic where I am regular customer for almost 20 years with no pause. Vege salad - even in the evening the vege were crunchy, delicious, nice spices used. Aloo paratha - not worth, not potatoes at all (aloo=potatoe) just plain flat bread in tandoor Rice - as in every indian restaurant, very nice, not bulky Murg masala - lamb pieces of ribs with small amount of sauce with a lot of butter -meat was nice, sauce non existent (cant feel vegetables from which it should be made at all) Dal panneer - hot (temp.) nice spices, not much of a cheese in, makes you full Chicken madras - not worth - blended with masala with coconut milk - this is not the way it should be done - sweet/sour/chilli taste should be there - non existent vegetables in the sauce, meat in the sauce was nicely cooked/soft
In my opininon - salad with grilled meat should do it, no need to go...
