The restaurant is situated in a beautiful building and we were looking forward to our meal here. It started with us having to queue with all the other people who were booked in for the first sitting at 19.30. This felt a bit like a queue for a canteen rather than a fine dining restaurant! The starters arrived at the same time as the wine and were plonked down in the table next to my elbow without any word from the waitress at all. The food was mostly tasty, but not the best we had in Bologna. The started of croquettes had no flavour at all and so we didn’t eat it all. When we told the waitress, she just looked at us with no comment at all. My primo of ravioli with cime di rape was tasty but very heavy to eat. My husband had the cod and it was the best dish of all those we tasted. Throughout the meal the staff looked stressed and rushed and did not engage or smile. The only exception was the charming wine waiter who gave us his expertise with warmth and a smile. We really felt as if we needed to be processed quickly so the next batch of customers could take our place. We did mention all of this on our way out as we paid the bill but the person at the till seemed uninterested in making the experience any better. If you don’t like to feel as if you are on a conveyor belt, I suggest you find somewhere...

We had one of the worst dining experiences here. First, we waited half an hour just to get a table – fine, that can happen. But then we had to wait another 15 minutes before anyone even came to us. The whole time we felt pushed aside, while other guests who arrived later were served before us. We asked at least ten times, and each time we were either ignored, sent to someone else, or told they couldn’t take care of us.
When the food finally came, it was a complete mess: wrong side dish first, then one main dish, and only afterwards the other main dish. Even worse, despite telling them multiple times that we don’t eat pork, they still served us pork. When we asked if it was pork, they said yes – only then we reminded them again that we don’t eat it. Up until then, the waiter had been grumpy, inattentive and dismissive, but after this mistake he suddenly turned very friendly, which just felt insincere.
The second steak we ordered was half undercooked and dry. The waiter promised it would only take “one minute” to fix, but again we had to wait another 15 minutes. In the end, the only apology we got was some free bread – nothing else.
Overall, terrible service, wrong food, long waiting times, and a complete lack of care for guests. Definitely not...
Read moreTrattoria Da Me Nella Torre delivered one of the most thoughtful, satisfying meals we had in Bologna. We started with a stunning tagliere of local cured meats and cheeses, paired with warm, airy gnocco fritto, pickled vegetables, and a creative tasting of cheese ice creams, stracchino, robiola, and gorgonzola, served with rosemary wafer and caramelized figs. Savory, cool, and completely unexpected, it was one of the most unique starters I’ve ever had.
The meal only got better. The tagliatelle al ragù was deep and rich, the tortellini in brodo subtle and comforting, and the cotoletta alla bolognese was pure decadence, crispy, cheesy, topped with prosciutto, and perfectly balanced. Even the mashed potatoes felt refined.
But the showstopper? A dessert simply named “Too Good!”—olive oil ice cream, white chocolate ganache, truffle meringue, celery, and 48-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano. It was bold, bright, and somehow made perfect sense.
Set beneath the towering stone of Torre de’ Galluzzi, the restaurant blends modern style with timeless flavors. This isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to be surprised, delighted, and...
