Vero Gelato — Restaurant in Bologna

When I went in, there was a woman and man working. The woman was friendly and patient with me but as she was helping another customer I was passed off to her male colleague. I had paid for a 3 scoop cone and told him I’d like pulcinella, strawberry, and yogurt. I wasn’t watching him intently but I did think perhaps he hadn’t added the pulcinella because I didn’t see any when he handed me the cone. Not wanting to question him as he already seemed unfriendly and as he handed me the cone just gave me a very curt “bye,” I hoped my third scoop/flavor was in the cone and the reason why I wasn’t seeing it. Well, no. It wasn’t. I only received 2 scoops/flavors out of the 3 I paid for and the gelato I did receive had just been placed on top of the cone- not in it. A disappointing end to have missing gelato and a completely hollow cone. I wouldn’t return...

Our family was really hot from walking around the city during the heatwave, and saw this was one of the few gelato places that opened earlier than noon (it said the hours were from 11am). We arrived around then and saw the owner was inside but the shutters still down. He said he wasn’t really supposed to open but would open up just for us. We couldn’t decide which gelato flavour to get and he recommended the lemon granita which was AMAZING, so refreshing on a hot day. We ended up getting 4 large ones, for each of us, and finished all of it happily. He said it was only made of lemon, sugar and ice but the texture was incredible, like the creamiest lemon slushy ever. The perfect balance of sourness and sweetness. Highly, highly recommended if you are in Bologna, especially in the summer! Thank you and hope we can come back...

The ice cream was incredible and delicious almost better than the service, where the chef happily served the ice cream and made the pancakes, making the whole experience better that any other. The ice cream itself is outstanding, whether you prefer creamy delights or fruity flavors, they are all amazing and you have no idea until you’ve tried them. The quality of the ice cream proves that here they prefer quality over quantity. The prices are very low compared to the amazing products for which you pay, for prices never over 5€ in ice cream with 2,3,4,5 flavors. The place itself is charming and wonderful to enjoy whether alone, with a special partner, or in family because of it’s unique design and decoration and the fact that it is right next to a local market, full of restaurants and other...
