Where to start...
It's not often you find a place that hits every note just right, but tonight, we did. This experience was nothing short of spectacular. The food, the service, the atmosphere – all top-notch.
Alessio, our server, embodied what it means to be truly hospitable. His knowledge, friendliness, and attentiveness were the perfect complement to an already exceptional evening. If you're planning a visit, do yourself a favor and ask for Alessio.
We kicked things off with the Calamari Fritto. Perfectly cooked, perfectly salted, and paired with a sauce that had whispers of garlic and a hint of acidity, perhaps from the lemon we squeezed over it. A small portion, but a perfect tease of what was to come.
Then came two of the most remarkable dishes we've ever had, anywhere in Italy.
First, the Agliolini all'Uovo con Caviale di Salmone. A dish that, at first glance, was flawless. Al dente pasta in a wonderfully balanced sauce. The salmon caviar added an explosion of flavor, little bursts of briny joy that played off the lemon zest in perfect harmony.
And then, the Culurgiones con Crema di Bottarga al Burro. This dish, folks, made us emotional. Knowing we might never taste anything like it again, except here, in Sardinia. As the plate arrived, the aroma enveloped us. The nuttiness of the browned butter, the salinity of the bottarga – it was a beautiful marriage of flavors. The Culurgiones, those little Sardinian dumplings, were cooked to perfection, absorbing the rich, flavorful sauce. It was a dish so well-composed, so brilliantly executed, it was a privilege to eat.
As if the evening couldn’t get any better, we had the pleasure of sharing a seadas. This Sardinian dessert is a real gem. Imagine a delicate pastry, fried to golden perfection, filled with tangy pecorino cheese. Drizzled with local honey, it’s a perfect balance of sweet and savory. The cheese oozes out, melding with the honey to create a mouthful of pure joy. It’s simple, yet extraordinary – a perfect end to our meal.
The memory of tonight's meal will linger long after the last bite. We can't wait to come back and do it all over again.
In the midst of all this culinary perfection, we almost forgot the stunning sunset, which we caught just in time at the end of our meal.
Thank you, Alessio, and a heartfelt thanks to the chefs for a meal we'll be dreaming about for a long time.
(For drinks, we enjoyed a few Select Spritz and wrapped up with a couple cafes. The perfect end to a...
Read moreThis is by far the worst dining experience of my life. I was grateful to be seated with my fiancé without a reservation. The context was I had just proposed. The waiter who greeted us was very unprofessional as I was explaining my wish to be seated “Hold on a minute man…” Upon being seated within 30 minutes we only received still water. There were several other diners waiting to be served. I then got up to meet one of the other waiters and said my friend we are still waiting to order and he replied “yeah yeah I am coming to take your order now” without making any eye contact with myself. I felt disrespected and treated subhuman by this establishment in that moment. We are fortunate to be able to dine in nice establishments due to our work, I am a medical doctor and my fiancé is a project manager in construction and this place which was highly recommended let us down. I would never return to this restaurant and will be recommending my friends in London to not visit. Rude, unprofessional, inefficient and a truly disappointing performance from the staff. Even when we expressed our disappointment to the first waiter he was quick to make excuses that they were full. There were tables unoccupied, even the one next to ours. I offered to pay for the still water and he was dismissive and said no you can go with a hand gesture to signal ‘get out of here.’ Again I do not know who speaks to other people like that especially when providing a service. If I could I would give this restaurant a negative rating as it truly deserves that for those...
Read moreOpenly hostile Service From the barman. Was there this afternoon having seen the many good reviews on here. Ordered an iced coffee- but with some caramel syrup in it. The bearded gentleman serving us after looking visibly disgusted and beckoned an English speaking colleague over to translate : 'we do not do not do that here, go to Starbucks. Go to Starbucks.'
He reluctantly poured a spoon of a toffee syrup, dramatically mixed it and handed the drink over. It was not what we ordered, it was a cup of froth. We offered to pay for it, still being polite, but asked for a coffee with ice. This was when he was openly hostile and started throwing ice into a glass, throwing the espresso into the cup.
Now I've heard of coffee snobbery, coffee sure is serious business, but this is not how to conduct serious business--whether you agree with the customers choice of what constitutes an authentic coffee experience or not. Thankfully the English speaking colleague was nice enough to field our complaint and she actually made us the drink we requested on the end. But I've never encountered such hostility. Degrade a holidaymaking customer for the request of sweet iced coffee? Incredulous.
I'd like to take this opportunity to ask the barman to himself go to Starbucks and observe. Their coffee might not be artisan, but they won't attempt to embarrass you for your...
