My biggest deception after 10 days in Sicily ! This restaurant was recommended to me by the French book guide “guide vert Michelin”. It was saying that the food is good and it’s “soft prices” (low prices). When I arrived the place was crowded, and I heard the waitress saying to other people that “it is a family restaurant”. (So to me= good food, generous quantities…) The reality? I took the 13€ euros raviolis : I had literally ~ 10 raviolis !! Way too expensive regarding the quantity ! And everyone would have been hungry after eating that. 6€ for the glass of wine : the wine was ok, but nothing special, expensive for a “family restaurant” AND 2,5€ for the service(with 2 poor pieces of breaf) !!! That’s a lot regarding the 16€ I’ve paid for what I ate ! And the service was terrible ! When my plate was empty the waitress took it even my glass of wine was empty So impolite ! And when I asked to pay, after the waitress NOT asking me if I liked the food, the told me to go inside to pay by credit card (what the ???). Inside, I paid by credit card to a man, who didn’t gave me the detail of what I ate, and who didn’t ask me if I liked the food. Conclusion: this place is only for tourist, nothing is authentic here, even if the food doesn’t seems bad. And about the price, I paid less in the most touristical part of Syracusa (ortigia.
Edit after restaurant answer: Look at the answer, look how they are mean in the answer ! Macdonald ? They have no respect, they can’t take any bad review ! They didn’t even understood it ! I talked with the guy from catania, and he told me it was expensive. Look at all the good reviews !...
Read moreSummary: After all, it's not the worst place nor the worst pasta, but my experience was underwhelming, for that price I expected much more. If i had to rate mussels it would be instant 5 stars, but we came for pasta and that was disappointing, so 3 stars for pasta. Overall experience was ok, still would recommend if you want to try some better Sicilian cuisine.
After a long time finally visited this place, heard only good things about their food. We had reservation for 4 people everything was smooth, staff was not the fastest but they were full so totally acceptable also they spoke English what is always plus.
For the food. Probably the best mussels I had in Catania, outside of one spoiled one it was amazing, their "sauce" was so good that we had to get more bread just for that. But the thing we came for was pasta. It was supposed to be a fresh pasta. I personally had ravioli, that were underseasoned with not that much sauce. My friend had pasta alla norma, which was okay but the eggplant was too bitter and awkward to eat when sliced like that. Personally prefer the small pieces of eggplant but it's everyone preference. The general feeling of food was okay, but the prices were too much. When i was leaving I really didn't feel that I spent my money wortlhy. For a drink we took a house wine for 10€-1 liter, which was...
Read moreWhat a lovely little restaurant just of the main plaza with great tastes and excellent service. This little restaurant is situated in a quiet side street although while we were there a few buskers wandered past playing live music which was pleasant. The owners and waiters were all very polite and communicated with me in my broken italian very easily and were very friendly. Definitely try the Catania speciality of Involtini (rolled meats) as they deliver so much flavour in a small package and the portion is big enough to share. Plenty of dishes and specials on the menu with huge bowls of paste and I had the special of swordfish which was delicious and at the recommendation of the waitress added a fennel and blood orange salad (another speciality which was delicious). I would heartily recommend this place for local flavoursome dishes with lovely service. For those of you who really want to eat well they offer a very large buffet service at a very...
