One of THE BEST dinners in my life! The food was spectacular! We went for the set menu: appetizers, two different pastas and dessert; a bottle of water and two carafes of wine were included into the dirty cheap price of EUR 25 per person. Hats off to the chefs. The starter was stunning and it was composed of around 15 (fifteen!) different dishes, of which each and every single one was DELICIOUS. The pastas that followed the appetizers were just as amazing and we opted for two different desserts (cause yes we were still given a choice) so we got ricotta cheesecake and lemon sorbet which turned out to complement eachother beautifully so we were sharing them. Service was great (waaaay much better than what we experienced in nearby restaurants so far). Setting of the restaurant is charming and feels like from a movie set. We were expecting some extra chargers orto be charged for the wine or any hidden costs to appear on the receipt (like it happened to us a few times in other restaurants in Catania) so we shocked to not to see a single extra charge and the total of just EUR 50 on our ticket; we would gladly pay twice more and still consider it a bargain for the quality and taste of the food, location, service and the experience. Highly recommended for everyone visiting Catania and should we ever be back to Sicily we will definitely visit Ristorante Canni & Pisci again. Thank you for a...
Read moreI had not booked but arrived early and was kindly given a small outside table. The restaurant is in a quiet road and is part of the historic palazzo Biscari complex. So goof, so far. The cocktail list is limited to three options, so I went for the open wine option. A Nero d’Avola that had been opened the evening before and tasted accordingly was rejected and replaced by an absolutely satisfactory organic Nerello Mascalese. Antipasto: Grilled Octopus with a spicy potato mash. Looked good but I nearly dislocated my jaw given that it could have been better used on a squash court. Next was the Tataki tuna with sesame crust - perfect although the soya sauce or whatever it was tasted industrial at best. Conclusion: location is fine, service is really very good even though it was very busy given the marvelous weather. Cuisine…..I hope that this is not another Catania restaurant that starts with great intent and gets chewed-up by it’s success because the place was buzzy and bursting! But there again, the city is littered with similar faded flowers…. The owner kindly removed the cost of the octopus from the bill even though I’d chewed my way...
Read moreVery good restaurant, the food is, for sicilia quite expensive, but extremely good and worth your money. The fish and the wine are simply amazing. I ordered a salad as well , that one wasn't that amazing (nothing I can't make myself in a few minutes) but that didn't really disturb me. The wine is excellent in quality but very cheap, just 2 euro per glass. 0,25cl per glass)
Also, if you're a tourist. - this may cost more then other restaurants in Catania, but back where I come from, I'd easily have paid double for this. So if you want to try out some good fish, and freshly caught fish is hard to get where you live, go for it. This is your chance without...
