Sleto Pizzeria & Hamburger — Restaurant in Catania

We asked for a table of 5 and were seated. We were 4 present and waiting for a fifth one who was few minutes out. Not one minute has passed, we were asked to change to a table of 4 aggressively. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all and there were no immediate reason to move us as we didn't even been given the menu as we've been less than 5 min. in the restaurant. Fortunately, the fifth person arrived and defused the situation by showing that we were in fact really the number we requested.

After been given the menu, we asked for the recommendations, what happened after is rather confusing and funny. Each dish presented one after the other is the best in the menu according to the waiter. All of them is in "abundance and the tastiest you'll ever try". Sounded like a salesperson at your doorstep selling you a vaccum cleaner.

Anyway, I chose the linguine with lobster. It came well presented and well decorated, a half shell of lobster and a claw covered with linguine. It looked nice. Taste wasn't, first hiccup is the pasta, it was uncooked and showed clearly that wasn't fresh pasta as it was hard as fast boiled dry barilla. Second hiccup, the sauce tasted somewhat as seafood based but not a single piece of lobster is to been even not a small dice of it. Though, some meat could be found in the claw, however it was just plain mush, not enjoyable. When asked about the dish, we explained the problems (we ordered 2 pasta lobster and both same problems), we just had a condescending answer, that this isn't possible as this is "fresh" pasta and we didn't know what we talked about as it's the way we should eat it. So, no point in talking further with the staff. We just decided to pay the bill without ordering desserts. The whole experience is not worth the price and is even very expensive for Catania, especially when the food...

My husband and I stopped by last night not knowing the dining customs( dinner begins at 7:00 p.m here)( we are from New York City( here in Sicily, let alone Catania. We were greeted by a friendly young man who was setting up the tables. Even though restaurant was not officially opened, he allowed us to wait( we were exhausted, hungry) to order dinner when the place opened up. As it turned out, we ordered many non alcoholic beverages and 2 appetizers while waiting. When his eatery was opened, we proceeded to order dinner!The food was delicious and the young man was patient, helpful and gracious!
