We couldn't think of a better note to end our trip to Cefalù on! The couple who own the restaurant were so friendly and welcoming, and fondly remembered the Irish friends they had made during Italia 90. We had a long, tiring day and home cooking and excellent wine was just what we needed. The menu was full of local Sicilian specialties, I had the spinach and ricotta cannelloni and my 2 friends hugely enjoyed the carbonara. I was impressed that the menu had plenty of options for vegetarians considering seafood is such a big deal in Sicily. It was one of the more expensive meals that we had for our holiday in Sicily, but the atmosphere made it so worthwhile. There was an impressive and delicious selections of wines to choose from on the shelves.
I wish however that the desert and aperitifs had not been served in disposable plastic bowls and cups. Litter seems to be a prevalent problem in Sicily and it seems like a simpler and more environmentally respectful solution to use ceramics instead of single use plastic. Hopefully the restaurant will consider this...
Read moreA total tourist trap, avoid at all cost, you are better off in any tourist place next to seaside - this place pretends to be an autentic sycilan place and a wine bar, but is is a basic dorty bar, with food heated in microwave and jusr 3 bottles of totally overpriced wine. The wine we had for 25 euro was just awful... one of the worst. I guess it just costs 3 euros in supermarket... the food was over cooked, greasy and super basic. Even my 11 old daugher could guess it was supermarket tortellini heated in microwave... a real disgrace both for foos and wine... pls avoid. There is no decor, no service, no quality and we paid more than 30 euros per person, so really, you are much better off in one of tourist places next to the sea. At least they do not pretend to be autentic and also they are competitive with service and decor. And the sea is nice to have if you canot have an autentic...
Read moreFood tasted more like it was prepared couple days before and just reheated today. Canneloni was something they highly recommended themselves but it simply didn’t taste nice or fresh at all. Same goes for Carbonara, which is an extremely simple dish and probably one of the cheapest ones at most restaurants but here at 18eur it was far from good. Oily sauce with overcooked and crispy bits of pork. Definitely didn’t look like some of the other photos shared and gave me an impression that I was given the last remaining bits from old stock.. Cover charge is 2.5eur per person but you get nothing for it, no bread, nada. You are then given a hand written receipt with no copy from the card machine. For the money we paid, we had an extremely good meal at a nearby restaurant the night before, with same amount of food, drinks and even with 2 deserts! There are far nicer places to...
