What a fantastic place.
I went here for a date night with the mrs. We didn't have a book in but the front of house managed to squeeze us in before the next booking.
From the moment we got there, we were made to feel very welcome. The staff were absolutely amazing and I can't applaud them enough.
The food was fantastic. If wish I could pick up the restaurant and just plot it down in my hometown so I could go regularly.
Octopus and chickpea fritters-Best octopus I have ever tried. Every other time I have tried it, it was just tough like tyres. This is slow cooked for 6 hours and then finished on the pan I believe. Amazing texture. I would eat octopus all the time if it was like this.
Raw tuna and raw blue prawn - I don't even like sushi lol. I thought ill be daring because I'm on holiday. I have to admit it wasn't that bad as non sushi lover. I wouldn't do it again but very glad I tried something out of my comfort zone. Tasted very fresh.
Smoked cod with tomato water, olive and Basil (I think) - this completely caught me off guard. Steamed cod is normally a safe bet anywhere. I took my first bite and it was a an explosion of flavour. I had never tried cod with the combination of these flavours and it worked so well. This was my favourite dish on holiday. Was fantastic.
Fried calamari with honey and soy sauce-crispy, fresh, not greasy. Really good. The sauce was very tasty too. Worked well together.
For desert I can't remember exactly but I think mine was the pistachio brulee. I really enjoyed this. Was a creamy pistachio desert which is one of my faves.
I think my mrs one was the coconut mango parfait. For those of you that like solero ice cream you would enjoy this. Really refreshing and nice.
Overlal a fantastic experience. Would definately go back and is one of my favourite restaurants I have been to ever. The staff made it so much more special. For an idiot abroad like me, they also speak English which was very helpful. To top it all off they knocked off one of the deserts off the bill and discounted the other. I have never been anywhere in London with that level of food that would do anything similar so...
Read moreRight then, Cefalù, smashing little spot, isn't it? Found myself there, you see, a brief sojourn from the relentless demands of, well, being me. The missus was quite keen on the cathedral, all very grand and ancient, and then, of course, the beach. One must, simply must have a dip, even if it's just to rinse off the dust of historical contemplation. But the real stroke of genius, if I do say so myself, was stumbling upon Triscele. Now, I'm not usually one for these hasty, 'brief stop' affairs when it comes to the serious business of lunch, but needs must, what? And dash it all, they served up a rather spiffing plate of pasta. Can't quite recall the exact concoction – one does tend to lose track of the minutiae when faced with such excellent company and the prospect of a proper repast – but it was perfectly al dente, coated in a sauce that sang of proper Sicilian sunshine. None of your anemic, watery affairs, this. Oh no. And then, the dessert! Shared, naturally, with the good lady wife. One does like to show a modicum of chivalry, even if it means sacrificing a full portion of something utterly divine. Again, the precise name eludes me, but it was one of those gloriously rich, creamy numbers, utterly decadent. A proper indulgence, you understand. Left one feeling rather… contented. Almost too contented for the rigours of further sightseeing, but duty calls, eh? All in all, a dashed good show for a fleeting visit. Triscele, you say? Rather recommend it, if you find yourself marooned in Cefalù with a rumbling tummy and a hankering for something rather above...
Read moreThis is a lovely restaurant in the Old Town area of Cefalú. There are several outside tables on raised decking and more inside. It has an elegant feel with linen table cloths and napkins and leather bound menus. The menu is small featuring a few of each of Anti Pasta, Mains and Seconds. The bread provided comprised of 3 different types all of which were delicious especially when combined with the lovely olive oil. We thoroughly enjoyed our starters of Babbá with Tomato Mousse and Radicchio Salad and our main dishes of Squid and Fillet di Sgombro (Mackerel Fillet on Crusty Artichokes). The mackerel was especially delicious. All this was accompanied by a lovely white wine and rounded off with delicious Sicilian Cheesecake and Coffee White Roche. We were initially served by an enthusiastic, pleasant waiter, Alessandro who turned out to be the owner! He was very enthusiastic and explained the menu in fine detail. His passion was very evident. 😃 Carlo and Tony also served us and were very pleasant too. We have dined in Palermo, Salina, and Stromboli and found this to be the best dining experience by far. A nice gesture by Alessandro was to treat us to complimentary glasses of Sandeman Port. Thoroughly recommended and evening booking...
