Piadineria La Caveja — Restaurant in Como

La Caveja is a little gem in Como. The lady serving doesn’t speak any English at all, but honestly that wasn’t a problem – she was friendly, smiling and genuinely eager to help. With a bit of patience and a few gestures, you can always find a way to communicate, and it actually adds to the charm of the experience.

Most importantly, the piadina she prepared was absolutely fantastic – one of the best I’ve ever had. It did take a little while to be made, but the freshness and flavour made it more than worth the wait. A truly authentic Italian bite that feels homemade with care.

We were roaming around the town of Como trying to find somewhere not very expensive to eat. We discovered Piadineria La Caveja and thought we would try it.

It made us a really good impression and here are some of the reasons:

probably the cheapest solution for food in Como (I don’t even count McDonald’s) honestly tasty, the ingredients are fresh and you can taste that. the portions are really good for the prices the owner was quite friendly, kind and smiling.

I am so happy to have visited this place just before we left Como. I must admit I had higher expectations from a certain popular place in the citycentre but it was just ok. But this place is amazing. The pita stays soft and is delicious on it's own and the filling is rich. We had the Superba and the Italy and the owner was so kind to tell us the mozzarella di buffola would become watery if you do take out so he recommended to switch it to normal mozzarella...
