This looks like a place from another time (including for the price list, that looks stuck to 10/15 years ago).
Their main offering is the kind of deep-pan, electric-oven-cooked pizza sold by the slice that usually in northern Italy is bought to take away. Eating it took me back to 30/35 years ago when I would get out of school and sneak into the nearby bakery to get a slice of pizza right out of the oven.
Some places like this one also offer seating, and allow you to order from a richer set of options than the ones you normally find pre-made at the counter: their list indeed offers quite the variety. They also have a number of classic dishes on the menu, and on Fridays they have a set of fish-based additions.
We tried a couple of "fifths" (that's a fifth of a "wheel" as they call it, which is a full pan) and they were both delicious: the dough is very different from thin pizza, more like a thick focaccia, but it's still great and the rest of ingredients were excellent (although even just a slice like that is quite a filling experience).
The people running the place also look exceedingly nice. A few small tables on the pavement, not the most stylish option but still a welcome one on one of the beautiful summer nights we had this September (let alone the relative peace of mind that eating outside vs. inside gives in...
Read moreJust had dinner in this place with my friend, we are locals and we speak italian but we are not italians, the whole night we couldn’t have dinner in peace because is NOT a welcoming place if you don’t look or are italian or from the neighborhood, table near us of 4 men harassing us all night thinking we didn’t understood all the things they said, making racially degrading comments! (how retrograde!!, basically the economy of como is moved by immigrants like us, for your information), the bald waiter shared the jokes with them which is super disrespectful and didn’t even make an effort to let them know we could understand! nobody was giving us free dinner so i think we deserved a nice little evening, we also were speaking italian with the waiter… the food was decent but all the experience was degraded by the awful environment.. don’t come if you are not a local and if you do be prepared to listen to weird...
Read moreI came here to have dinner with a friend and the food was okay but we didn’t have a pleasant evening because is not a good place If you are not Italian or seem local, me and my friend live here in Como and we were speaking Italian with the waiter but one of the tables kept talking about us, our order, making racially degrading comments, guessing our nationalities etc (we understood everything!) it was really rude.. the waiter also followed the bad jokes from the table instead of stopping it knowing we obviously speak Italian, the experience was ruined. I don’t get how people can be this disrespectful and retrograde knowing that a small town like Como progresses economically thanks to foreigners like us. The food and the restaurant is not made for tourists or non...
