I was dubious about visiting the museum, but the history that is diplayed in there is amazing for a mountaineer/serious hiker. I, for example, didn't know that women started climbing as early as second half of 19th century. Besides, seeing the equipments the early mountain guides used to make those climb possible is just humbling.

The only museum where I've read EVERYTHING! It is well laid out, and absolutely fascinating - especially if you are even remotely interested in mountain culture, exploration and the outdoors. Highly recommend stopping here, takes about an hour to digest everything. Well worth the $5 entree fee.
