Café Roma — Restaurant in Courmayeur

I first came about this bar when I visited Courmayeur in 2001. It was such a lovely place with a great aperitivo hour and brilliant buzzing atmosphere. Back then, the prices were on a normal range. I then revisited this bar in 2017 when skiing in La Thuille. I was surprised how empty it was, followed by shock by just how much the prices had rocketed. Around €14 for a 500ml beer- we promptly walked out. Dunno what happened to Courmayeur, what was a lovely resort in 2001 had become tacky with big brands in 2017. I got the impression of a Russian-oligarch influence - wonder what Courmayeur is like these days now... but I'm not surprised by the number of negative comments...

I personally don't understand what all the other people are complaining about. The prices, as long as we have seen, are totally normal for the place. For example we all had aperitivo (cocktail + food) for 13 euro each, which is what they ask you in any other place in Italy. The drink were good and the food that came with it was plenty and tasty. We also had the pleasure to chat with the owners of the place which seemed very nice people. Finally, if you manage to get a table outside you will be able to enjoy your stay in the middle of the pedestrian street...

Amazing experience, came to Courmayeur from Chamonix for the day. Had such a good time in the bar we ended up booking a hotel here for the night so we can have a few drinks there. Service was amazing, the owner is the cutest man ever, so friendly and nice. Honestly the best service we had in a long time.. free buffed after ski which was amazing cause restaurants are closed until 7. Really...
