After reading so many good reviews we had high expectations but were unfortunately disappointed. Even before ordering, I noticed that my napkin had a piece of soggy bread in it but I brushed this off as a simple accident. The bread they served us was stale and clearly old. We ordered the antipasto sea food sampler - 4 of the 6 were very good, however the fried calamari was cold and seemed to have been simply microwaved.
For our secondo we ordered the polipo with pancetta and potato purée. Although the dish was described as mainly polipo, the pancetta portion was far larger than the polipo serving, which covered the taste of the polipo. Fortunately the pancetta tasted very good. The polipo was of good quality but cooked poorly, almost burnt. The potato purée was too sour in our opinion, and the consistency resembled more of mashed potatoes than of purée.
The view of the sea is excellent and the wait staff were professional. However, the quality of the food does not match the particularly high prices. I would not recommend this restaurant:
Edit June 15th:
After reading the response from the restaurant I remain further disappointed. I believe I had written a fair review - as mentioned 4/6 appetizers were very good. For this the restaurant should be complimented. However, I will underscore that the pancetta blanketed the taste of the half burnt polipo. Additionally, the potatoes were indeed uncharacteristically sour.
The fact that the restaurant insinuates that we “couldn’t capture the complex process” behind their plates is quite offensive. Hopefully the restaurant can accept future criticisms with humility, improve on their mistakes (e.g., stale bread, burnt polipo), and continue to do good business, rather than insult...
Read moreI'm really confused about the rating of this restaurant. I ordered three dishes: beef bone marrow, pan-fried fish fillet and something like beef stew. The first thing I want to criticize is this extremely awful beef bone marrow. The raw beef on top of the bone marrow was so sour that its pH value couldn't be measured. The bone marrow itself was all oil and you couldn't taste any marrow at all. In a word, it was just oil-soaked bad beef. As for the pan-fried fish fillet, normally, it should have a golden and crispy surface and be tender and juicy inside. But what they gave me was the opposite. The surface of the fish fillet had no aroma or golden color and was not crispy at all. It was extremely tough and the texture was like biting into the bark of a 100-year-old coconut tree on the beach. As for the beef stew, it tasted like tree bark and shredded coconut had been put in a pot and stewed. It looked fibrous and tasted like a pile of soft and rotten tree bark and shredded coconut. It was simply unbearable. To sum up, I think the rating on Google is fake and doesn't reflect the actual level of this restaurant at all. It's really a bad review!!! This kind of restaurant is simply ruining the image of Italy and the whole of...
Read moreI was enjoying a nice dinner until near the end of my “Polp fiction” I noticed this parasite on my plate. I notified the server who at first came back from the kitchen with my plate since the kitchen had told her this was part of the octopus. Having some knowledge about seafood and after doing some extra research I confirmed this was in fact a parasite and when I spoke to the manager they agreed with me but their reasoning was that the octopus must’ve eaten it and that’s how it landed on my plate. I told her this ruined my dining experience, the manager acted frustrated and didn’t come up with anything. She even acted unbothered and walked away while making an rude gesture. In the end a second manager offered for my dish to be taken off the bill. In conclusion: This can happen even though I think it had to do with improper cleaning, what bothered me though was the service as they at first denied what it was and then acted like it was normal as if I was at fault for mentioning it. The rest of the staff was friendly...
