Osteria Grotesque — Restaurant in Finale Ligure

We ordered the mixed appetizer plate to start and shared it in two - a really nice mix of foods from the Liguria region. If you want a sample of everything, then I recommend this. Later we had pasta dishes - one with pesto, the other with fresh anchovies. The pesto was rich and flavourable, with the pasta cooked the way I like - al dente. The anchovy dish was lighter, with just the right about of flavour. I liked that it didn't taste too fishy, as the anchovies were fresh. Towards the end, I added a little more olive oil to it, not because it needed it but because I love the taste of good Ligurian olive oil. Fantastic place. Welcoming from the first moment even though they were very busy. It was my birthday and they made a huge effort - without being over the top. Food is (genuinely) the best Italian we’ve ever had or are ever likely to have I believe. It just doesn’t get better. I had the ravioli di carne with the cheese sauce (my Italian is terrible) and the Frito Misto. Both amazing and will stay in my memory for a long time. Group of 7. We knew we could have diner from 19pm till 21pm. Restaurant had another reservation at 21pm. What a great place to eat. We loved all the antipasti and prima piata we orderd. Great taste and an enthousiatic service. What a releave after 6 days of Italian style of non-service. This place stole our hearts.
