Canto del Ramerino — Restaurant in Florence

Oh Florence. Here's yet another place I had a hard time reviewing.

I'll start with the positives. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing! It has a real rustic and charming vibe, and being a bit tucked away on a street corner, it has a real hidden gem kind of feel. The interior and exterior are really quaint and lovely.

The service was top notch. I don't remember the name of the female server but she was very friendly, attentive and helpful. Great job!

Unfortunately the food did not meet expectations. I'm wondering if maybe we caught them on an off day because they have so many good reviews of their food.

The sausage pizza was way too cheesy and greasy, yet somehow bland. The sausage had no taste. The crust was average. The sauce was also just rather underwhelming.

The fresh zucchini pasta was, again, just bland. The pasta itself was mushy which I found odd for fresh pasta. The sauce was flavorless. It wasn't inedible though. Just disappointing.

All in all I still recommend this place for the atmosphere and the service, but unless we had a bit of an "off" experience with dinner, I think it may be better suited as a kind of place to get aperitivo or late night drinks...

​I enjoyed a truly exceptional meal, starting with a perfectly cooked steak paired with a wonderful glass of Chianti wine. The quality of the food was outstanding, and the rich flavors were enhanced by the gentle sounds of Italian music playing in the background, which added to the magical ambiance.
