Baldovino Bistrot — Restaurant in Florence

In short, food was not bad but their service was unprofessional and horrible!!!

We're a group of 16 Christian pilgrimage from US. Visited this place for lunch as our travel agency set up. We had 3 course lunch, consisted of Spaghetti alla Carbonara, Fiorentina 250g/person, Patate fritte, and Tiramisu for 40 euros per person. Everything went well except their service. The server threw away the dishes instead of serving person by person. However, we're understanding considering the size of our group and this relatively small space. When the desert was being served, we're given small orange, one for person. We waited and waited tiramisu. Finally, tiramisu served and one member asked for a spoon. A server with well groomed mustache answered with attitude, "Hey, I only have two hands!" Then, I decided to speak with the management about this improper service. I looked for the owner or manager. The mustache guy was found and I tried to take a picture of him, thinking putting his photo on Google. When I did he grabbed my hand snatched away my phone. My phone was in his hand. THE MUSTACHE GUY IS THE OWNER OF THE PLACE, Massimo Bocchetti. If this happened in the US, he would get caught for assault.

I believe, food is not everything, a warm-hearted service is important as well. In response to my review, the owner claimed that I was arrogant from the beginning and I attacked his employee. I'm over 70 year old person and an elder of local RCA church located in Westchester County, New York. How dare you say I attacked somebody!

Mr Bocchetti, is it that difficult to say, "I was sorry about...

One of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had.

From the moment we arrived, the staff was rude and unprofessional. They made us feel uncomfortable, as if we were a bother just for wanting to eat.

On top of that, the waitress deliberately misled us by offering so called “dishes for four people” which were actually single person portions disguised as sharing platters. Later, when we ordered a dish “for one person,” it was exactly the same size as the supposed dish for four. A clear trick to make customers spend more money unnecessarily.

To make matters worse, the waitress was extremely rude the whole time and even insulted us directly when we asked for clarification. A complete lack of respect for the customer.

⚠️ Be very careful with this place. They don’t deliver what they promise and try to take advantage of unsuspecting customers. I will never return, and I strongly advise others...

I wanted to review it with 3,5 star but I do not have this option. So I give 4. We ordered the ravioli burrata, classico Toscano con coccoli, 2 pizzas (panierino and baldovino), sorbetto lomone, 2ltr water , sprite and aperol. We paid 93,50 euros.

The pizzas had different crust from the classical Napolitan. It was very good and I liked it. The Ravioli burrata had unique taste but I wanted 2 more in the plate.

The rest of the food was very good also.

The people there were very kind and polite.

But they loose stars for these reasons: We paid for cover change that never came. We did not have salt, oil vinegar or bread in the table like the other restaurants in the area. Also they did a lot of time to bring the forks and the knives in the table and we waited a lot to pay the bill.

I believe that is something that they can improve. I suggest it but the restaurant must consider to fix...
