Terrible service, average food for the high cost. We arrived and ordered before multiple tour groups but the other tables were served and finished eating before we got any food. We had to flag down several servers before getting only a portion of our order, which was only lukewarm. We lost museum visit time. It wasn't just our table. A couple of other small family groups who came in around the same time as the tour groups were also sitting at their tables drumming their fingers looking towards the kitchen, waiting. When we brought this issue up after very patiently waiting, the waiter just shrugged and tried at first to say that it was the kind of food we ordered. When I pointed out that 30 people ordered a variety of food after us and were served much sooner than us, he basically said it is what it is. The waiter only offered to bring the rest of our order after we asked for the cheque because we had to leave and couldn't wait any longer. Then it took even more time to try to pay the bill for the portion we scarfed down. The large groups who came after us were all arguing and paying their bills. I almost considered walking out.
Turns out they are focused on getting tour guides and travel companies to funnel unsuspecting tourists in herds. While the food isn't bad, it was bland, and costs similarly to places much closer to the large attractions. Do not bother to go there, especially if your hotel recommends them. A trap. Especially avoid lunch time, when the tour groups are being herded. The inside is kind of cute but...
Read moreUPDATE: We tried another place as it was closer to where we were at the time (Il David) and was not good at all. Want a great Florentine steak--go to Casa Toscana!!! On the way back to our Air B&B we walked by CT and told a table they need to order the steak.
My brother and I got dinner here as it was across the street from our air BnB and we were exhausted from our trip in. My gosh this was the best meal I've had in a very long time. We ordered the caprese salad, Florentine steak with potatoes and Panna Cotta. A basket of break arrived first. A little underwhelming, wished softer and note: Italy doesn't put salt in the bread so bland. Caprese salad was pretty basic but fresh. But the main star, the steak, was UNBELIEVABLE! As we're the potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The potatoes were full of flavor, seasoned with salt and rosemary with a light crisp on the outside. My brother and I agreed it was likely the best steak we've eaten ever. 1000% recommend this! I'd never had Panna Cotta but the caramel sauce was soooo much better than in the States. Service was pretty good and the waitress spoke good enough English. Apple spritz were refreshing (we weren't feeling wine ATM). Got a limoncello shot on the house. Highly recommend Florentine steak with potatoes!...
Read moreAh really disappointed. I came here after being already disappointed with these high rating restaurants in Florence serving some of the worst Italian food I’ve ever had (borderline microwaved) thinking I’ve just gone to touristy places that have high ratings but I was recommended to come here by a local who swore by the place as a restaurant that locals come to that’s known to be good. The atmosphere of the place is cosy and rustic, and the service was ok. However the food was very sub-par, I had the PICI CON PESTO DI RUCOLA E SALSICCIA and it was gluggy and overcooked. My partner had the Herby Nettle ravioli with butter, sage and black truffle and it was covered with heaps of sauce (which I thought was just butter as the description stated but was a creamy sauce?) and the pasta itself was hard (not al-dente but hard and undercooked) and both looked nothing like the pictures online.
Also noticed both pastas came out in less than 10 minutes which makes me think either it was microwaved or kept in a massive dish for some time. Either way it...
