What an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish! Firstly, it is located in a beautiful and very important part of Florence. Nestled just by the beautiful Ponte Vecchio-which is an absolute must see when coming to Florence- this place has brilliant views of the river, the multiple bridges and is the perfect spot for wine tasting. Apart from the fantastic location, the experience itself was phenomenal- it changed the way my wife and I think about wine, taste wine and even talk about wine! This is a hands on experience, and what is different from normal wine tasting where you are told what to expect and what to taste in the wine, in this experience you are taught how to use your own senses, how to heighten your ability to use your senses and how to use this when tasting wine. These abilities are then put to the test and let me just tell you, you are going to surprise yourself! The wines themselves were absolutely delicious and of fantastic quality and very affordable. Our tasting was with Stefano, who was warm, charismatic, funny, honest and absolutely brilliant at his job. It is an intimate experience with 1-on-1 time and we were very grateful that we were able to learn so much from Stefano not just about the tasting experience as described above but about the regions where the wines came from and the processes used to create the wines. MAKE SURE YOU BUY WINE HERE AND TAKE IT BACK HOME AS YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY TAXES ON THEM- many people do not know that conventional wine bottles are charged tax on when taken out of Italy. Due to their unique sizes, these taxes DO NOT apply to wines bought from Firstglass. This is a win win- you save money AND take home a superior, more refined product, you really cannot complain. We got a box of three and if we could fit more I would have taken half the shop 😁 This was definitely a highlight on our trip to Italy and I would recommend it to anyone- you don’t have to be an avid wine drinker to enjoy this experience. Make sure you ask for restaurant recommendations while you are there- we did and had some of the best food in Florence after following Stefano’s advice. Thank you Stefano and to the whole team for making it a wonderful experience. We will definitely be returning next time we are in Florenceā¤ļøšŸ™

This shop is awesome! The staff are great and fantastic, can't thank them enough! I initially went in around 4:30pm to see what it was about as it was the first time I had came across such a store and on my second visit in Florence, noticed it wasn't there a year ago so thought to walk in. I was greeted by a young woman who explained what the shop is about and the pricing list, I said I would be back after the sun had set. While eating a meal in Florence before going to see the sunset, I noticed my powerbank wasn't working and I remembered the woman in the shop spoke fantastic English so headed straight there after paying the bill. On my second visit, I met a 23 year old gentlemen who greeted with positivity and happiness, exactly what I needed. I looked around to find the woman to my relief was there from earlier. What happened is below: "So my phone nearly dead and I had a powerbank with no power in it in Florence, 4 hours ago. Thanks to a brillant wine shop called Firstglass, I now have a full battery and on the flixbus back to Bologna also with 400ml of wine in my tummy and two new friends I've made from Singapore" The woman and 23 year old let me charge my phone and gave me a glass of cold water with appetisers to eat while I chose my wines and white my phone was charging. I could not have entered a better shop for such a scenario and I am so thankful for their hospitality, kindness, friendliness and overall humanness for being human and understanding. A visit to this shop is a must and it takes a lot to impress me however this shop not only impressed me but went above and beyond what they are paid to do. I got 3 bottles of fantastic wine too. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING EVERYONE, I hope the shop is a success!!!

First Glass When touring the streets of Florence, when the weather is nice, one of the sites to take in is the sunset by the river. It’s called the Golden Hour, where people line the banks and bridges of the river Arno to catch the sunset when it is just right. There are also small cafe’s lining the river where one can enjoy a glass of wine while waiting. We happened across a small wine bar that had seating outside and sold these individual sized bottles of the various flavors of wine. Our son struck up a conversation with the proprietor of shop, FIRST GLASS, whose name is Steve, and made a reservation for the following night. One of the things Steve offers is a wine tasting and how to tell the difference in wines, through the senses of sight for color, smell for the aroma, and of course the taste for flavor. It was a nice way to savior our taste buds for the evening. Again, this setting is to be enjoyed, and not just a grab, gulp, and go. So, if you are in Florence, I encourage you to drop in to FIRST GLASS and enjoy a nice vino. Until next time.

I had the pleasure of celebrating my 60th birthday in Florence with my daughter, and one of the highlights of our trip was the wine tasting at Firstglass. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. Our guide, Stefano, is a true wine connoisseur. His knowledge of Italian winemaking, combined with his passion and engaging storytelling, made the tasting not only enjoyable but also a truly educational experience. We learned so much about the history, traditions, and craftsmanship behind each wine, which gave us a deeper appreciation for every glass we tried. The wines themselves were outstanding—rich in character, beautifully balanced, and reflective of the region’s traditions. What truly set the experience apart was Stefano’s personal touch. He made us feel welcomed, answered every question thoughtfully, and created an atmosphere that was both professional and warm. If you are visiting Florence, I highly recommend booking a tasting with Firstglass. It was the perfect way to celebrate a milestone occasion and an experience I will...
