I have no idea how to differentiate between quality leather and not quality leather. I don't want to haggle with street vendors selling mass produced "genuine leather" products that I'm pretty certain would fall under the latter category. I don't mind spending more money on a well made product that will stand the test of time. In this case I depended on google and Reddit reviews to find well thought of leather shops in Firenze for a friend who was looking for a bag for her daughter. This was one of three shops we decided to check out. We were greeted as soon as we entered the store by a young lady who explained what they had, offered her assistance if it was needed, and then left us alone to look. That in itself was a breath of fresh air. In other shops any bag we touched was the "perfect bag", and just in case it wasn't ten other bags were pushed in our faces. While there, we struck up a conversation about things other than leather with Aaron, who is just one of the more pleasant people I've ever met, and who I found to be very likeable. I wound up looking at and purchasing one of the shops beautiful belts. I so enjoyed that experience that I made my back to their shop before ending my trip to purchase a belt for a family member, and I decided to get myself another as well. Unfortunately it was not available in my size, and I would not have time to return to the shop. Aaron offered to modify one of the longer belts down to my size while I waited if I had time. Ten or fifteen minutes later I was walking out with both belts. While I know little about leather, I do know good customer service when I see it and good people when I meet them. Aaron and his family are the real deal. They make beautiful leather products and are a lovely family. I feel quite certain that if you take the time to stop here you will have a great experience, and you may just walk out with a beautiful product that you will cherish for...
ย ย ย Read moreMy girlfriend and I entered this shop by accident, with our travel bags waiting to check in. The lady that welcomed us, daughter of the owner, let us watch far a moment and then gave a brief explanation of how their product is distinguished from other leather products. We proceed to take a look, tried a bag, not making a decision yet, but pleased with the craft of their products. The lady proceeded to give additional information, not at all in a pushy way, but rather inform us, instead of a sales pitch. We left and proceeded to check in our hotel.
I researched some of the information they gave, and i became convinced that this is the real deal. I watched a video explaining you should use your senses and that its a sensory experience. Small inconsistancies are a good sign since its a natural product, touching the leather feels good and right, and a pleasant smell of leather is what you want, without smelling it like chemicals. The next day, i wanted to buy the 'simple line medium' bag, after a while, my girlfriend wanted the mini version, so we would have matching bags. We liked the sober look of the bags, without bling bling and an obscure logo.
Convinced by the craft of the bags, i really do think this is well worth for your money. In todays standards it is hard to evaluate a product for its true quality. But I strongly believe this bag will be one for a lifetime as the lady claimed. I do think this was a good purchase, very good value for your money if you are prepared to invest for a longterm bag. I would reccomond this brand to everyone. Support the true local craftsman to support the rich leather history...
ย ย ย Read moreWhile on vacation I wanted to buy a special wallet for myself. We searched all over the city for a leather shop that had story and true Italian products. It took a while to find something and we stumbled upon this place while eating Gelato of course.
In Florence you really have to pay attention to where the leather products come from; since there is a "leather" market which looks like their products come from out of the country. Those kiosk staff say everything is made in their factory but it seems fake. To sell leather goods that are really Italian you need a certificate.
This beautiful shop is full of thoughtful designs, and you can speak to the owner, who also makes their products. They purchase the top layer of leather, which is the highest quality possible from the animal. You walk in their work space and see how they make their products. You really do notice that they care.
The quality is great and I am truly happy with the wallet I bought. The price was reasonable, and cheaper than some of the other stores, but more expensive than the leather market (obviously). Please don't get fooled by the market stalls, buy your leather products from a local store owner, and you're going to be impressed and happy with the overall product.
They do international shipping...
