They are clearly a very popular place. When my party of 2 got there, we were told it would be about a 10 minute wait, and they took out names on the wait list. The host was absolutely great. She was clearly very busy, but was still very kind, efficient, and helpful. We were sat in about 10 minutes. After being sat, we were not greeted by a waiter nor had our orders taken for about 20 minutes. We sat and watched as every single table who came in after us, and were after us on the wait list. To put it into perspective, the table directly next to us was sat after us, and their food was delivered just minutes after our order was finally taken. After sitting without being greeted for so long, we tried to call the waitress over. In response she told us to “be patient” “give her 5 minutes” and she was “clearly busy” the host had seen this and immediately came over and apologized, took our order, and tried to explain that she had told the waitress from the beginning that we were the first sat and to take our order. When our drinks came out, I was brought the wrong thing, I immediately told the waitress as soon as she tried to put it down. She left the drink and told me she’d “go check”. Well after 5 minutes of her not doing anything about it, I tried to call her back over, to which she told me she was “working on it” and took the incorrect drink, she then told a different waitress and the host, clearly for the first time, because the host immediately came over, apologized, brought the old drink back for no charge and brought me the correct one. When the food came out, it was not hot, and the grilled veggies were extremely soggy. I tried to ask the waitress for butter for the toast, she told me she’d would grab it but never did. I am normally someone who will not speak up if an order is slightly incorrect, or if something is not my favorite when eating it. However, the amount of things that went wrong was truly absurd. The waitstaff was rude and forgetful. The food was just okay. The only saving grace was the...
Read moreIf you’ve been in Italy and are craving an American style breakfast, this is the place for you! American coffee costs €2 with free refills and it actually tastes pretty true to drop coffee. The food portions are generous and could definitely be split if you’re not super hungry. This is definitely a good brunch place and will keep you full past lunch so you can explore the city! Prices are reasonable, my veggie omelette cost €9,5. I will say the “seasonal” veggies were kind of funny, zucchini, peppers, and carrots but the cheese more than made up for it. The potatoes were seasoned quite nicely and there are ketchup packets available for the table.
The English breakfast was hearty and no one in our table finished their English breakfast plate fully. The French toast was actually quite the star, it’s made with multi grain bread which tempera the sweetness and gives it a nice balance of hearty with sweet. The servers speak great English and come around often. They do not take reservations on the weekend, but if you come before 11 I think you have a good chance of getting in. We walked in at 11:10 with 5 people and were seated with no issue but it did start to get busy after that. Overall, really love this place and will definitely be back if I come back to Florence, 10/10!
As a note, they do allow...
Read moreMy husband and I just left (Wednesday Oct.23rd, 2024) Rooster Cafe and we had a wonderful experience for breakfast! I asked our waitresses’ name, but her accent was thick enough that I didn’t quite hear it correctly and didn’t want to keep her too long from her other tables, however she was an absolute delight! Very sweet, very attentive, very smiley. Her smile made us smile! So thank you for such wonderful service!
Now, the food! Delicious! I had the Greek yogurt bowl which was fresh and very tasty. My husband had the chicken and waffles which were the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. I also enjoyed the Basil Detox juice and for any green juice lovers out there who need a little something to break up all the delicious pasta and pizza of Italy, this juice is it! I also enjoyed my regular morning cappuccino and you just can’t go wrong with a cappuccino in Italy. The menu has a little bit of everything. Very Americanized with an Italian flare for sure. The flare being the freshness and quality of the ingredients that you just don’t find in the states.
