La Loggetta di Villa Bardini — Restaurant in Florence

What a wonderful spot. We trekked up there several times during our couple of months in Florence, to enjoy the incomparable bird's-eye view of the city and their fresh, perfectly made cocktails. My wife was so taken by their Hibiscus Spritz that they gave her a demo on how to make it, she took notes, and they ultimately gifted her a crock bottle of the house-made hibiscus simple syrup. The staff was super friendly, it was all very chill and un-rushed, and what an unexpected surprise to hear 'em spinning John Coltrane's 'A Love Supreme' and a few numbers by Massive Attack/Tricky! I suspect that we'll be going back again before we return to the US in a few weeks. You do have to pay for admission to Bardini Gardens to get there, but all in all, it's a very cool perch that's worth the steep...

The main attraction in the Giardino di Bardini in early spring, is undoubtedly the wisteria tunnel (Italians call wisteria Glicine). Once you’ve walked around, you can sit and relax at the La Loggetta which offers coffee, snacks and aperitivo.

Beware: they try to rip you off!

• My wife and I just wanted a water so we went up to the guy at the counter and asked how much. Without a blink he said 3 euros each for each bottle of water. I repeated that to him and he repeated it back to me. Then we looked at the menu and it says 2 euros per bottle of water and we told him so he then changed what he's charging again without so much as a blink of an eye. Bottom line: he was straight up trying to steal from us a Euro per bottle. What a disgusting person. Do NOT eat here. I would...
