By chance, we found Neromo on our first night in Florence. Our hotel was right across the street and after seeing their menu and stylish decorum we decided to try it out. This easily became the best meal we had in the four nights we were in Florence and all of them were really good. We started out with the mussels appetizer. They were fresh, good size, and had a delicious sauce with a nice amount of garlic. We then decided to eat light and split a margherita pizza and their special risotto of the evening with Gorgonzola and radicchio. Our plan was that I would eat most of the pizza and my boyfriend would primarily eat the risotto. They were nice enough to split the dishes in the kitchen and we didn't even ask. Both of us having worked in restaurants found this very polite. Pizza was great: crunchy, well cooked, flavorful, with the perfect amount of cheese and basil. The risotto on the other hand, was completely mind blowing. For what sounded like such a simple dish, it was complex with deep flavors, it was rich but not overpowering, it was cooked perfectly al dente, and it was utterly satisfying. Lets just say that my boyfriend did not end up eating most of the risotto as planned because I would not give my half up. It was hands down the best risotto we had on our 2 weeks in Italy and we had it several times. My boyfriend then ordered the seafood pasta. It was was packed with seafood for a primi course (If I remember correctly, it had shrimp, calamari, cuddle fish and clams) with a simple white wine sauce and the pasta was fresh and al dente. Again, it was fantastic and he at every bite. After the meal we understood why this place was frequented by mostly locals. We had a great time in Italy and Florence was easily our favorite place. The only regret we have from our whole trip is that we didnt go to Neromo...
Read morei saw plenty of reviews highly recommending the cheesecake, they bounced right off me like superman. thankfully my girlfriend had the wherewithal to put us down for a serve of cheesecake. wow. you know the scene in ‘ratatouille’ when the little guy eats the cheese and the strawby and it goes all fireworks and such? it was like that. please, get the cheesecake, i implore you.
pizza was also awesome, we were super keen to try the tartufina, ostensibly their specialty, but honestly the margherita eclipsed it! just a classic style done impeccably. not to bash the tartufina, also delicious in its own right.
tiramisu also deserves an honourable mention, a scrumptious accompaniment to the aforementioned...
Read moreArrived without a reservation and were promptly seated. Very friendly reception. Almost exclusively Italians in this restaurant. We started with mussels, then shared a spaghetti dish, followed by the potato crusted sea bass. Everything was well prepared and presented. Our waitress was superb. Spaced out our meal and allowed us to enjoy the cuisine. Had the biscuits and Vin Santo for desert. They brought a warm piece of cheesecake on the house. Terrific! They also brought both limoncello and meloncello gratis. The owners (father and two sons) were very visible and warm. Had such an amazing dinner that we made reservations for later in the week. Highly recommend...
