When you have the absolute best and memorable service, everything else becomes perfection. Il Vespro appears to be a quiet, intimate restaurant that caught our attention when we were passing by on our first night in Florence. What made it memorable for me and my parents was how one of the servers greeted us in the most charming way. We already had dinner plans elsewhere but we decided we would keep it in mind for another time. On our last night, we came back to dine and were greeted again with the same smiling waiter. He remembered us, and seated us at our preferred outdoor table. The night was pure bliss for my parents thanks to the charm, attention, professionalism and warmth of this server. Pierre Paolo could not have done a better job at making my parents happy that night. He was gracious, entertaining, funny, attentive, generous and just an overall great guy. He made jokes that made us laugh, presented us with recommendations, offered complimentary appetizers and drinks (we refused the drinks because we really were stuffed and done by the end of the night) and when every restaurant patron turned down a rose vendor that was passing through late that evening, he asked him to come back, and he bought a red rose for every single lady in the restaurant. Of course I had to take a photo of him and my mom with the rose he bought her, and he was gracious enough to do so. He even went out of his way to offer and take more pictures of me and my parents that night. For my elderly, carefree mom and dad the night was going wonderfully. For me, being in a foreign county, in Florence for the first time, and having had several previous experiences of vendors taking advantage, it was starting to become difficult for me to settle in, relax and have fun. I was seeing red flags thinking “What is going on here?..why is this guy being so overly nice, overly generous, overly attentive? What am I gonna expect to dispute over the bill when it comes out and how do I keep myself composed when he most likely demands a tip at the end in the most obnoxious manner? (And yes, blatantly asking for a tip at the end of a dinner ruins the dinner) And so being prepared to just face all that, none of it happened. None. He came out with the bill, explained it in the most courteous, professional way, even helped and guided my dad out of his seat, and that was that. An absolute gentleman of a waiter. I was going to give him twenty percent tip, but ended up giving close to thirty. I regret I didn’t go back and made it forty. Every restaurant should have a waiter like Pierre Paolo. High-end 2 or 3 star Michelin restaurants may have the immaculate service one would expect, but oftentimes those fall short of the warmth and personality you’d want for a fun, relaxed dinner. Thank you so much Pierre Paolo for making our last evening in Florence so memorable and fun. I hope you get a big raise for all the wonderful things you do, and that you continue to make people happy. And I hope we see you again next time we are in Florence. All the...
Read moreWonderful new venue in the center of Oltrarno is an absolute delight to be and to dine. The interior is a gorgeously appointed room with old Florentine palazzo grandeur combined with edginess of rough finishes and quirky details. Long, central bar with big windows behind holds the space and I can only imagine how amazing it feels to be there for the pre-dinner tipple, as we went there for a lunch and sat outside in the sunshine. Outdoor terrace is ample and faces spacious Piazza so offers very relaxed experience. The lunch menu was delicious and we ate far more than we should've at mid day, but every morsel was worth it! The young staff is attentive, professional and charming in old fashioned, very irresistible way which makes you feel like you were teleported to the 50's :) We will be coming back for sure next time we are in Florence, as it is a delicious place, fantastic both for dates and for larger groups to dine in very elegant,...

Il Vespo quickly became one of our favorite spots in Florence! We loved it so much, we went for both lunch and dinner — and ordered the gnocchi and salmone tartare both times because they were simply outstanding. The gnocchi was light, flavorful, and perfectly prepared, while the salmon tartare was fresh and beautifully presented.
A special mention to Sophie, our wonderful waitress, who made the experience unforgettable. She was so charming and welcoming, making us feel like part of the family from the moment we walked in.
The rest of the food was just as impressive — the beef was incredibly tender, the chicken and salmon were cooked to perfection, and everything was seasoned beautifully.
If you're in Florence and want amazing food with equally amazing service, Il Vespo is a must-visit. We can’t wait...
