Avoid this place, please trust me.
I've travelled quite a bit and been to many restaurants, cafe's etc. This is the first time I have ever felt the need to leave a negative review for somewhere, because I simply cannot get over how rude one of the staff members were.
First things first, the place absolutely stinks when you walk in and it's dirty... very dirty. But we ignored that and thought we'd give them a chance as it might be really good coffee... we were wrong.
This was mine and my friend's first time in Italy, so we weren't too familiar with the different drinks options. We'd been to a coffee shop a few hours prior to this one where they sold flat whites. So, I asked if they did flat whites also...
The guy behind the till with the dreadlocks (don't know his name) was clearly annoyed by this straight away. 'What do you mean flat white, what do you want? you all say flat white but what do you want, flat whites do not exist in Italy!'. He was raising his voice and getting unnecessarily angry. I said 'oh sorry, anything that's a short strong coffee with some milk, I'm not sure what the names are, I'm sorry'. He continued to moan at us and shake his head. He wasn't joking either, he was really angered by this and made us feel seriously uncomfortable. He could see I was struggling with what to order, yet he continued to be so rude to us. We were just left shocked and embarrassed.
Anyway, we didn't even end up getting what we asked for, we got given 2 espressos, with no milk (having asked for milk). Just to top the whole experience off, it was the worst coffee we'd had during our whole time in Florence.
Please just take my advice and try the other lovely clean coffee shops, with friendly staff. Avoid this one with...
Read moreMy husband and I visited PoP on a few occasions as we loved spending time in Santo Spirito - however have mixed feelings about this bar.
The first time we visited we were welcomed by the most incredible bar staff Sevda and Annie, who served efficiently, were so friendly and provided great recommendations on what to see in Florence. These women made our night so enjoyable and fun. I was however, disappointed on our second visit a few nights later..when we came again on NYE hoping for the same experience we had only a few days earlier. There were 3 men behind the bar who were rude, dismissive and belittling to me when I ordered, and seemed to be frustrated by me even being there. They reluctantly made me my drink order (albeit made me change my drink order to what they wanted because they said it was stupid to order a beer on NY) and shuffled me out whilst laughing at me with each other as I paid. They were clearly making fun of me in Italian to one another (knowing I spoke only English) which is something I have never experienced in Florence. I was very uncomfortable and I left immediately after.
Being in a great area, this bar has a lot of potential but it seems like it is hit and miss depending on who is working. I will remember the first night we spent there as a highlight of our holiday, however the experience with the three men behind the bar on NYE was something I’d...
Read moreI went to get a hugo spritz and they forgot to put the alcohol in. I’m not sure if they forgot, which would be strange as they are a bar and make drinks all the time, but even so it’s unacceptable when you’re paying the money for the alcohol. Also, I did not watch them make the drink so was very confused when it took me approximately 15 seconds to consume the drink. I’m really sensitive to alcohol and it only takes a quarter of a spritz to get me buzzed and get hugos all the time so I know how long it usually takes me to drink them but I think I was just in shock how quickly it took me to drink it that there was so little left it was pointless to raise the issue because how would I prove there was no alcohol if there wasn’t much to test. I felt absolutely nothing afterwards which confirmed that there was no alcohol because whenever I go to the pasta restaurant across the street and get a hugo I only need to drink a quarter to feel something. Overall just not acceptable for a bar to forget alcohol and charge the customer that price.
Also the size of the glass was smaller than other places for the same price. I’d recommend going the places across the street...
