My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Trattoria del Ottro during our travels from Florida, and it turned out to be a memorable culinary experience. Nestled in a charming corner of town, this restaurant offered us a taste of true Italian authenticity.
For our main course, I opted for the Florentine steak, and even though I ordered the minimum size, I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion and affordable price of around €25. Cooked in the traditional style, the steak arrived beautifully rare with a rich marbling of fat. It suited my taste perfectly, but my wife, who prefers her steak less rare, wasn't as enamored. Nevertheless, her Rigatoni in meat sauce more than made up for it. The dish was nothing short of heavenly, with perfectly cooked pasta smothered in a delectable meat sauce that left us craving for more.
Trattoria del Ottro also impressed us with its family dining atmosphere. We recommend calling ahead to make reservations, as the restaurant tends to get busy. The ambiance was cozy, and the decor exuded an authentic Italian charm that transported us to the heart of Tuscany.
To complement our meal, we indulged in some delightful local wine a Chianti Classico, which further enhanced the flavors of our dishes. From start to finish, Trattoria del Ottro captured the essence of Italian cuisine and provided us with an unforgettable evening of flavors and warmth.
We wholeheartedly recommend Trattoria del Ottro to fellow travelers seeking an authentic dining experience in Florence. Whether it's savoring a Florentine steak or relishing the heavenly Rigatoni, this restaurant is sure to leave a...
Read moreUpdate from Aug 2021: still marvelous. Arturo as friendly and attentious as ever. The food still tastes like a Mana from Heaven. This time we added to the experience the insalata de pulpo, the filleto al Chef, the papardelli chingialle, the fig/pine-nut pie, the grandma's pie and the red fruits pie, and the vino rosso della casa (from Tuscany). It was worth coming back! Original post Feb 2019: This is a typical neighborhood trattoria. The menu has a a long choice of antipasti, primi and secondi for every taste. The smoked sword fish came in a bed of rubella and was a great start into the dinner. It followed very tasty pasta with plenty of truffle slices ( the portion is generous enough if you don't want to take a secondi). The osso bucco was delicious, and the polenta went really well when mixed with the osso bucco sauce. The lady fingers of the tiramisu could have been more plentiful. The wines are expensive, but the selection is good and there are plenty to choose from. The waiters are very polite, efficient...
Read moreDO NOT COME TO THIS SHOP I WOULD GIVE NO STARS IF I CAN!!! SCAM!!!! Upon ordering the florentine steak, not only did they not show us the steak before cooking, the menu was a scam. We chose this restaurant because on the menu, it states that the minimum order for the florentine steak was 500g, but instead the waiter just informed us the minimum is 700g. We had no choice but to order 700g of steak which is really too much for 2 people.
The steak was unevenly cooked; too cooked on the outside and as we dig into the meat near the T bone, it is COMPLETELY RAW its like eating beef tartare (we ordered medium) and totally unappetising. When we informed the waiter about this, he just rudely informed us that we have almost finished the steak and he wouldn’t do anything about it, not even recooking the meat and we were not even asking for a new one.
Service charge is insane for a restaurant with such attitude. Avoid this restaurant...
