Amazing market, with a lot of choices and prime quality produce. Make sure you don’t miss it while walking in via XX settembre. The narrow doors don’t make justice to how wonderful this place is. You can find almost everything you need for your daily groceries: fresh fish and seafood straight from the pescherecci, meat, local deli, fresh pasta, and especially a lot of produce. Fresh fruit and vegetables from a lot of different stalls with amazing stuff. A lot of local must haves, including incredible porcini and ovuli mushrooms (when in season) but also exotic ones you don’t always find in Italy like dragonfruit or tamarind. Overall it’s amazing to have a stroll and look at all those amazing stalls. Listen to locals and their great accents and experience a bit of haggling. Truly one of the best Italian market experience I ever had.

This wonderful covered market on the edge of old town Genoa is one of the must-visit places when traveling to Genoa. Vibrant food, fruit, fish and meat stands offer a dizzying variety of fantastic foods. If you are staying in Genoa I highly recommend shopping for food there. You will find everything you need at very low prices. The market also features a cafe area in the center where you can sit, relax and enjoy some food. The market is in the center of one of the beautiful shopping districts in Genoa, all within and surrounded by beautiful ancient buildings. Don't miss this authentic Genovese experience!

I love a good food market and this is one of the best we have experienced in Europe. There were so many amazing produce sellers and everything looked so fresh and tasty. The prices were very reasonable and there is a wide variety of everything from fresh herbs and flowers, meat, seafood, cheese, bakery items, delicatessen items, nuts, spices, dried fruit, fresh fruit and vegetables. Once we finished admiring all the amazing food downstairs, we headed up to the food hall and had an amazing pizza. This place is highly recommended for all foodies!

Ottima iniziativa che ha ridato finalmente vita allo storico mercato orientale di Genova. In un uno spazio a misura d'uomo, ben ristrutturato è possibile trovare le eccellenze gastronomiche che caratterizzano il nostro bel territorio. La qualità degli ingredienti utilizzata nei vari "stand" è davvero molto alta, e di conseguenza il prezzo non è proprio concorrenziale rispetto ad altre realtà. E' possibile mangiare pasta fresca, pesce, panini, hamburger, gastronomia, carne, focacce, gelati etc. Al piano di sopra è anche presente un ristorante, che al momento non ho ancora provato e altri spazi dedicati all'arte culinaria. Da turista mi fermerei qui sicuramente per un pranzo o una cena. Invece per una veloce pausa pranzo lavorativa, forse ci sono nei dintorni altre possibilità di scelta più economiche e veloci. Resto comunque molto soddisfatto nel complesso! Spero che molto presto si proceda anche ad una ristrutturazione delle aree del mercato vero e proprio, in modo da rendere più appetibile anche quelle. Degna di lode poi l'iniziativa di tenere aperti i locali fino alle ore 24, infatti la sera, specie nei giorni feriali, a volte è difficile trovare un buon locale, aperto fino a tarda ora dove cenare.

Nella centralissima via xx settembre...conosciuto dai genovesi come mercato Orientale... Comprende un piano sotterraneo suddiviso in 42 magazzini ed un pianterreno formato da un porticato perimetrale colonnato che si sviluppa per circa 360 metri.... Il mercato ha cinque accessi..... di cui due da via XX Settembre... compreso l'ingresso principale a cinque arcate... due da via Galata e uno da via Colombo.. Inizialmente all'aperto... il mercato è stato successivamente coperto da lucernai per aumentare lo spazio interno disponibile.... Le decorazioni interne sono in marmo bianco... mentre l'originale pavimento in pietra è oggi parzialmente coperto da cemento.... Nel dicembre del 2017 è stato presentato un progetto per il restauro conservativo e la valorizzazione del piano rialzato dell'edificio, dove è stato realizzato un food market con bar...Dopo vari rinvii... la nuova struttura all'interno del mercato è stata inaugurata il 7 maggio 2019....Un luogo di aggregazione restituito a genovesi e turisti...che possono gustare cibo di strada nei tavoloni o sedersi comodamente al ristorante... Un punto di ristoro che si collega perfettamente al resto del mercato...Il tutto ....꧁ in via XX Settembre꧂ ....

If you are spending any amount of time in Genoa, you should plan on visiting this market. Delicious fresh fruits and vegetables, baked bread, cheese, olives, etc. It was a wonderfully local experience sitting down for a bite to eat and soaking in the locals going about their day. Prices are a fraction of the surrounding big cities like Milan and Florence. Two paninis and two capaccinos for under 10€.
