t/Terra — Restaurant in Genoa

This adorable place is a little tricky to find...when your map gps tells you that you've arrived, keep walking across the street and look down over the wall and it's there, down the steps. The owner/chef has a hand written daily menu and son Nicolo proudly translates it for you. We shared 3 plates and each was more impressive than the last. The focaccia w gorgonzola & prosciutto, then ravioli stuffed w spinach, followed w another ravioli w ricotta (I may have some descriptions incorrect). Each plate was simply superb and all were no more than 7€ each. Almost forgot the tiramisu, my goodness! I really cringe at the term "hidden gem" but this is the definition of it! A very honest place! The owner is the real Terra. He will welcome you, serve you and cook for you. Forget the long waits and the fact that at times the place looks a bit messy. It's part of the vibe!!! It would not be as enjoyable without such frane around it. Food is very good, and super cheap! The menu' changes every day as Gianni starts his day shopping in local markets making it up. You might find yourself dining in the dehor, while small farmers stop by with their vans, to drop off their products. As I said in the beginning, a very honest place. Uh! A plus! Serves food...

Siamo stati qui per una cena attirati dalle recensioni positive. Purtroppo la nostra esperienza é stata piú che negativa. Parto col dire che il locale non lo definirei spartano ma alquanto fatiscente. Dalla foto che é quella dell'ingresso nel locale si possono osservare infatti il pavimento sporco, le buste di immondizia lasciate per terra e griglie per la friggitrice tutte incrostate. Al tavolo ci hanno portato il menù su un foglio scritto a mano tutto sgualcito. Alla vista dei prezzi sono rimasto quasi incredulo, veramente bassi rispetto alla media. Decidiamo quindi di approfittare e ordinare due primi e due secondi. Dopo una lunga attesa arriva il primo (trofie al pesto): buone, senza infamia e senza lode ma per il prezzo (7€) ottime. Dopo quasi un'ora di attesa arriva il secondo (ordinato insieme al primo in un'unica comanda, nonostante ci fossero quattro tavoli al massimo da servire). Il secondo é il vero motivo di questa recensione negativa: la tagliata era immangiabile, chiesta di media cottura ci arriva praticamente al sangue, il che non sarebbe nemmeno male se non fosse che il pezzo era tutto nervetti ed era impossibile da masticare (ne abbiamo lasciata infatri circa metá nel piatto). Gli arrosticini di pecora anch'essi di bassa qualitá e come ciliegina sulla torta non é mancato un capello nel piatto.
