Adriano makes some of the best sandwiches I’ve had in Italy—hands down.

There’s a huge variety to choose from (maybe even too many 😅), with both focaccia and ciabatta options, all made fresh with top-quality DOP ingredients. The flavor combinations are excellent, but what really sets this place apart is Adriano himself. He’s like a sandwich sommelier—he’ll guide you through the options and help you choose the perfect one. You’ll definitely want to come back to try more. And the prices? Just as they should be. They’re absolutely fair, it’s an excellent balance of quality and quantity—something I really hope they manage to keep in the future. We’ve simply become too used to paying tourist-trap prices for much lower quality.

We were looking for a place to have dinner in La Spezia, and we found MAE. There we met Adriano, who was incredibly friendly from the very first moment and recommended two sandwiches. He started preparing the food right in front of us while we chatted. The bread is made fresh, and all the ingredients are incredibly fresh. We learned a little more about La Spezia and Cinque Terre, and we also shared a bit about our country, ending with one of the best sandwiches we’ve ever had. Finally, during the conversation, we revealed that we had gotten engaged five days earlier in Rome, and Adriano surprised us with a gift. We were very happy and touched. Best Panini and Focaccia in Italy! We have been in Italy already for 3 weeks and for sure this is our favourite place!! This place is amazing!! Fresh bread and local ingredients, when I say fresh is fresh the owner do the bread while you are there.. it is a whole experience, he explains everything about what they do, it is great to see how Adriano is passionate for what they do.
