Wonderful place. Best pizza in Lucca based on our exploration of the town. Folks behind the counter are also super nice. We saw a bunch of locals and tourists coming in and out of the place. If you’re getting 4 slices you should just get a whole pizza. We ordered takeaway and a custom pizza, too. I think their suggested pizzas are likely the best options because they’re managed to make sure the crust stays crispy. Our super veggie pizza that we asked them to make got a bit soggy because of all the liquid from the veggies. Otherwise all the takeaway slices were very crispy. They had 3-4 vegetarian options ready to go.
They have seating for 6 - three tables with two seats. You can also walk right outside and sit on the steps of the church that are right across the way. And sometimes there is great music playing there, too.
Overall, great place to grab a bit while cruising Lucca. Another plus is the great gelato place right...
Read moreAmazing award winning pizza. The best I have had for the two weeks so far in Tuscany. Though I must admit I didn’t had too many pizza these two weeks but I do like pizza and really enjoy this thin crust crispy pizza. Probably on the thinner size on ingredients, cheese and sauce as compared to American pizza but the crust is simply one of the best I have had! They do get quite busy and there are only three small tables for 6 available. Most would buy and eat standing outside or find one of the stone benches sticking out of building. Try the zucchini pizza as the dough is probably infused with saffron and it’s uniquely delicious. The black charcoal dough pizza is more of a gimmick and is a bit dry and tasteless. Overall, a good place lunch or snack place! Highly...
Read moreThe pizza at Dante & Gentucca was the best I had in Lucca! Wood-fired pizza with crunchy crust and delicious toppings.
Yes, the shop is quite small, and there can sometimes be a line, but it is totally worth it, in my opinion. You can sit in and eat, but there are only two tables, so if you're not quick, just take the pizza away for a stroll down the streets or find somewhere beautiful and enjoy your pizza.
You can get 33cm or 40cm pizzas, and even buy by the slice.
A little foot note, I did see a 9 year old kid running around outside get hit by a lady on a push bike... was pretty funny.
(The kid and lady were unharmed!!)
10 ot of 10 will be going there when in Lucca again!!...
