De Cervesia Beer&Food — Restaurant in Lucca

I stumbled upon this place by chance during my one night in Lucca. And a lucky chance it was! They have a great selection of craft beer, which made me feel right at home (coming from Asheville, NC, USA) I had the fried anchovies as a starter and they were so tasty. I mopped up every bit of house made mayo. Yum. For my main I ordered from the wood oven menu- capocollo steak with stewed ginger apple and mustard glaze, and the potatoes with Taleggio. The whole meal was a fantastic experience. Each bite of that capocollo with the apples and the delicious glaze was pure heaven. So last night we tried out this restaurant. The service was excellent. We shared a gnocchi dish that was very tasty. The bistecca had an excellent flavor. But, to be critical, the bistecca had a few pieces that were grizzly/chewey. We had no vino nè birra. They did not have ribs that was a bit disappointing. Ottima soluzione che unisce la possibilità di mangiare hamburger/panino con patatine ma anche piatti più elaborati (dall'autentico tordello, al petto d'anatra, fino alla classica tagliata). Noi abbiamo provato un po' di tutto e siamo usciti veramente soddisfatti. Hamburger molto buono, pulled pork speciale, anatra perfetta, insomma quel che è da apprezzare di questi tempi è la ricchezza dei piatti, dove non si lesina sul contenuto nè sulla qualità restando in un range di prezzo onesto. Si capisce subito comunque l'amore che le persone mettono in ciò che fanno dalla qualità del pane. A Lucca in numerosi posti il pane è servito con estrema parsimonia ed è secco oppure va di moda taglaire la focaccia a quadratini di 2 cm per lato. Qui invece il pane è servito soffice e sebbene tagliato a pezzettini comunque soffice e non stantio. Sembra scontato ma purtroppo nella ristorazione nulla lo è più.
