As a tourist you know you are going to be charged more within a historic city. However, a sandwich that was labelled Super Futtoria (can't remember the exact name, but it had Super in it) and being priced at €3.50 and the others at €2.50, I was expecting a bit more. However, when all the sandwiches came out they could not have been more than 7cm across. ALL OF THEM THE SAME SIZE! Including the Super. We asked the waitress why - she said that's the way it is and the Super was that size. It was burnt, used poor quality generic ingredients. When the bill came they asked for €4.50 for the Super sandwich. Again - we challenged the staff as to why and got a menu to show that it said €3.50. This did cause some confusion and after a while they agreed to knock the €1 from the bill - but the waitress did say that the correct cost was €4.50.
SO! Only go there if you enjoy paying over the odds for expensive, poor quality food - though what cost you'll be charged - who knows!! There are far better places to eat in Lucca offering far better products for far less cost with far less grumpy staff. Just 2 minutes walk away in a straight line, I'd recommend Pizzeria da Felice di Grazzini Marisa offering satisfying traditional pizzas and chickpea flour bases, efficient staff and a much more genuine...
Read moreWent here during Lucca comics for dinner. That being said, when we sat down the restaurant was not super busy- several tables were empty. Almost immediately our order was taken (2 pork sandwiches and 2 cokes- the sandwich was a special for the day). Our cokes came out a few minutes later with a promise that our sandwiches would be out soon. An hour later my husband finally managed to get a servers attention - it was starting to get busy also- to ask about our sandwiches. The wait staff said she would go ask- different people came 3 more times telling us that we had already gotten our sandwiches when we got our cokes- my husband, and my response was no we hadn't, if we had where were our plates... No one had been to our table since we'd gotten our drinks. We did finally get them, and they were ok, but nothing special. After this experience I doubt we will ever go there again. We also paid more than full price for the meal- the sandwich with a drink was €6, we paid €14 for 2. Had it been any other time I would have given a 1 star review, I'm giving credit for the fact that Lucca comics is a crazy...
Read moreTL;DR: A nice experience for the price, however it had minor inconveniences like lackluster restaurant placement and loud music.
Food (4/5): I ordered Cacio e Pepe, which is basically spaghetti with cheese and pepper (as seen in the attached picture). The taste was nice, but the cheese became overpowering towards the end of the meal. For beverages, I had a bottle of water, which was a bit lukewarm. Overall, for the price, it was very satisfactory.
Service (5/5): I have no complaints about the service. The servers were helpful and attentive. The food arrived quickly, and we were seated and served promptly, even though the restaurant was decently crowded.
Atmosphere (3/5): The atmosphere was just alright. The chairs had no padding, and there was a speaker playing loud music right above us, making it hard to talk. There wasn't much to look at, other than people walking by and...
