This was a dinner for our tenth wedding anniversary,it was our 4th day in Lucca and every dinner up to this one has been amazing. My wife has a dairy allergy, which can be remedied by simply leaving the cheese off sometimes. Our waitress seemed bothered by my wife's request to explain the easily modifyable dishes compared to those that can't be modified, she basically walked away, without explaining, and not taking a drink order. After being seated in the restaurant thirty minutes, and no drinks, My wife flagged another waitress, who was very nice she came, explained the dietary possibilities, and took our drink order, which was good, because we were about to get up and walk out. We thought the wine in this restaurant was way overpriced, compared to the other establishments, we had already patronized. We had also been to a nice wine tasting earlier in the day. We opted for a Moretti beer, we were told they didn't have any, so we got a Peroni. This was not a big issue. However I think, possibly, because we were drinking beer, we were getting ignored. We watched as others that arrived after us got service. We ordered a pasta with seafood ragu and the branzino special, both to share. This seemed to be an issue as well, because we were brought each course, in a dish for one, and a side plate, for us to split. To be clear, we expect this at a lower end restaurant. In a higher end place such as this, we expect two plates so we both eat from the same dinnerware, or as other higher end restaurants in Lucca have done, separate it in the kitchen and bring us two plates. Other restaurants have even done this and given my portion with cheese and none for my wife due to allergy. But now comes the fun part. I felt something was off nearly immediately after eating this. I was hard pressed to make it back to our accomodation, before I had to use the toilet twice to get rid of the cramps, some apparently substandard seafood had been given me. I think it was whatever was in the seafood ragu. Also as a side bar, both waitresses said we should not get the cod. Why is it on the menu, then? Also this was the only restaurant of four we tried to book online before arriving, that we actually had to visit early to make sure our reservations were secured, all the others confirmed by email. One star, we feel we...
Read moreI was excited to try this restaurant due to the pictures of the menu, and how the outside looks aesthetically, however I was quite underwhelmed by the food and service. We ordered 2 glasses of wine that did not come. I ended up ordering a different drink after 50 minutes had passed due to the confusion, and I will say the Bellini was quite nice.
We ordered the meat/cheese platter to share, but our waitress rung in the all meat platter by accident. We did not touch the food and asked for it to be corrected, which a waiter promiser it would be fixed. Rather than provide us with what we originally ordered, however we were charged for the meat platter and a cheese platter, which was €20 extra, even though it was the waitresses mistake.
The food we received wasnt bad by any means, but I will say it was not up to par with the prices they were charging. We specifically had the Duck and Lamb rack.
When we were ready to pay and asked for the check, we ended up waiting 20-30 minutes before heading inside to ask again for the bill and to hopefully pay. When we checked the bill, we saw that we were charged for the missing wine, which we never received. When we let the gentleman at the front know of this, he talked with another waitress who asked why we didn't ask for our missing wine if we didn't receive it. We informed her that we most definitely did ask, but instead were given a menu so we thought it was missed. Not a great way to wrap up the night, and honestly, we would recommend searching out another spot based on...
Read moreDon't come here, it's a scam. The food is quite bland and tasteless, and it costs about 1.5-2X more than it should cost. The wait staff seem downright miserable and scared to death of the owner, who screams at them constantly and over nothing. The waitress serving our table had a very bad cold and she seemed to sneeze over our plate of food as she was carrying it to the table (my back was turned so it mightve been another customer but I'm pretty sure it was her based on the direction of the noise. Gross!). The owner himself is a miserable old man who honestly has no business running a restaurant, let alone being in charge of other human beings. The whole place reeked of a dysfunctional, toxic work environment, and that was readily apparent to all who dined there. This was hands down the worst dining experience I ever had. Make sure to double-check the bill before paying as these guys seem to love charging you for items that you didn't order. If you bring up any issues about the bill to the owner, he just gets angry and yells at the waiters right in front of you. The whole experience was just insanity. Stay away. Sadly, this guy gives...
