Ristorante Masseria — Restaurant in Mantua

TL;DR: most of the food is pretty nice, everything else is a joke!

Although the food was well made, a lot of things made this experience really disappointing: 1° Prices seemed reasonable, even for a restaurant located in the touristic city centre. This was a lie: more expensive ingredients had be be searched for with a magnifying glass, portions of non-pizza dishes are tiny and the coperto was the highest I've seen since visiting Venice; 2° Members of the staff was very short-spoken and made sure we left ASAP to make room for more clients; 3° The timing was completely off: the trick of managing a restaurant is making sure everyone at the same table has their food approximately at the same time, regardless of prep time. The eating area is beautiful with frescoes on the walls. My husband ordered a soup and an insalata misti. They brought him a Prosecco, which he did not order, and then the small bowl of soup with a large Caesar salad loaded with chicken. He complained about not having ordered the salad. Meanwhile, nothing that I had ordered even came until we asked several times about it. By then he had finished his soup and we sat and waited, probably an hour. Il "Ristorante Masseria" è certamente uno di quei ristoranti ai quali non puoi non dare un'occhiata, essendo in pieno centro piazza. In occasione di un 18esimo, sono stato invitato a prendere parte dei festeggiamenti, proprio in questo ristorante. Eventuali informazioni pre-giornata, durante la prenotazione, erano state recapitate, quali: il tipo di torta da servire, il vino da stappare e la possibilità di optare per l'interno, nel caso di pioggia.

A serata arrivata, ci è stato proposto di spostare i tavoli siccome il tempo non era di buon presagio, e così abbiamo finito col cenare nell'aula con gli affreschi. L'atmosfera di certo non mancava.

Cio che sono mancate, tuttavia, sono state 2 cose: Accoglienza. Da una persona soltanto ho notato una forte indisposizione e malo modo verso i ragazzi. Posso capire che, avere ristoratori di giovane età, sia sempre una noia, magari per il baccano che viene fatto o magari per i modi quasi infantili, ma mi aspetto un atteggiamento sempre professionale, che non superi le barriere cliente/staff. Professionalità. Era stato comunicato della bottiglia di vino o spumante da stappare. Tuttavia, questo segnale non è stato recepito, e così ci siamo visti chiedere per un consiglio. Dopo la scelta estremamente costosa, lo stesso individuo sopra citato, ci ha portato un'altra bottiglia che purtroppo non era quella consigliata in quanto esaurite e ha stappato, proprio mentre ce lo comunicava. E se avessimo cambiato idea? Ormai era fatta, dovevamo pagare il vino.

Oltre a ciò, a nome dell'intero tavolo, devo dire che la cena è stata all'altezza delle aspettative. Il prezzo complessivo della serata è stato ottimo, non mi aspettavo di spendere così poco.
