Scaravelli: Ristorante — Restaurant in Mantua

Tasty food and crispy pizzas. Was there in a very hot day, either for lunch and apero. Menu is pretty rich and combines traditional pastas and risottos with tasty salads. I went for salads (4-5 different types in the menu) which were prepared with fruit, vegetables and cheese, accompanied by a focaccia (base of a pizza baked with just a bit of oil and oregano): was super. Macedonia mista with vanilla ice cream and coffee completed a fresh lunch. Tables of the restaurant are placed either under the arches in piazza Erbe, which helped staying in the shade and gave a bit of medieval atmosphere, and on piazza Erbe, under big sun umbrellas. At the cashier desk of the restaurant it is possible to buy some of the Mantova’s traditional sweets, like sbrodolona, baked by Scaravelli bakery, located few meters away at the other side of the square. Personnel is supportive but a bit chaotic (either at lunch and apero was challenging to get the attention from the “right” waiters, apparently having very segregated tasks), making the service weakest point...

We had dinner at this restaurant twice during our stay in the city and both times we had great servers and the food was delicious. We had a bread basket which was very good we also had a Greeks salad which was very good I had fish one night I had the pizza the other night which I enjoyed. We also had two different pastas one was a lasagna. And a pesto pasta also had fennel salad which I liked a lot side dish The servers were very nice. They were helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to have a third night here if I was still in town. Outdoor indoor seating it’s too hot to sit in It’s really too hot to sit outside but we waited till the sun went down and it was fine. The desert look good but unfortunately we were very filled. It was a positive dinner experience...

Inizio cosi con una stella solo perché alla richiesta ci hanno porto dell’acqua per il cane. Avevamo riservato il tavolo per 3. Arrivando al locale siamo stati accolti con indicazione del tavolo. Menu viene quasi lanciato dalla velocità con qui ce lo consegnano senza nessuna spiegazione e nessun avvertimento. Cameriere ci chiede acqua da 1 litro va bene? Noi si e ci porta 2 bottiglie da mezzo litro. Piatti non arrivano tutti assieme ce uno che mangia altri aspettano. Sbaglio con ordine della insalata. Ma non e un problema. Il problema sta che il cameriere che ha reso l’ordine aveva ignorato tutta la situazione. Ordiniamo una bottiglia di vino ovviamente dalla lista dei vini. Ci portano un vino completamente diverso di qui la casa produttrice diversa e in più non è presente sulla lista dicendo solo che ci farà un buon prezzo. Servizio sbrigativo senza nessuna attenzione. Mio tovagliolo era sporco macchiato di giallo arancione Abbiamo preso polpo che arrivato al tavolo con foglie di menta morte e chiuse. ( per far la foto avevo aperto io ove possibile la foglia di menta )Nonostante la presentazione del piatto era bella ma tutto ciò era rovinato dalle foglie morte di menta. Mia insalata aveva pezzi di mela tagliata va bene che non e stata tolta la pelle ma non pulita come si deve dal centro di essa. Qualche foglia di insalata morta che a sua volta fatto presente al cameriere. Quindi prodotti non freschi ah pure i pomodorini erano sfiatati molli che non so. Ma dico io ma e possibile che in piazza con tovaglie sui tavoli e calici adeguati per il vino arrivano al tavolo piatto composto dai prodotti non freschi? Boh. Forse è stato il giorno NO che può capitare. Pero una domanda ve la faccio. Ma cosa fate nella ristorazione se non prendete la cura del cliente e cura nei dettagli? Consigliare mah non me la sento per niente dal punto di vista di servizio da punto di vista cibo forse dovremo riprovare per dire in futuro se cambiato...
