(Note we did not have a drink or eat here) Lovely location, unfortunately we didn’t get the chance to experience it. I very seldom create reviews on google, but this place seems to have a problem with communication. The bar was basically empty but not available to guests even though the sign said it was. Nevertheless, this is fine, but would suggest changing the sign in the front.

However, the reason I’m giving a bad review here is because of the responses here in google to other people reviewing this place. I understand it’s frustrating to get bad reviews, but the way this owner has responded to the reviewers is in no way at all ok. I have worked in restaurants, cafes and stores for years and never is it okey to respond to people in a bad way. At least if you want to build a long term sustainable business where people want to go to your place. You don’t have to listen to me, but it’s just a tip for the future.

Probably a fantastic place and would love to go...

Allegedly they were open only for “some guests” even though the working hours say otherwise. There was no reservation on any of the available tables.

UPDATE FOR THE FRUSTRATED OWNER/MANAGER: Sorry for triggering you, this for sure is not the way to handle bad reviews, regardless if it is from new or active user of the review option. Use your energy to be more transparent with the ways of working! I don’t have time to check your website. And as your staff said “during that time period it was reserved only for the hotel guests”. I could have made a reservation in person or whatsapp but I was not informed about that option, and your lack of communication or basic knowledge of the staff in such a popular tourist place is not my concern. And as you can see from my score, I only gave 1 star for the service, and here’s a 4 for the atmosphere, so it will motivate you to work on your positive...

They have a sign at the door that they are open for everyone from 1-10 pm. But when we arrived, at 2 pm, there was one table occupied, the rest of the tables empty. Though we were sent away because they keep the tables for guests who might come. Terrible service!!!

UPDATE; and now you are called a liar. But your lady working at 2 pm said all tables were for guests when they would like to come. One table occupied so not busy at all and you could have made money because we were starving and wanted to have lunch. I was so excited to be your customer and sooo disapointed to be sent away when I could see so many free tables and no reserved signs. But call me a liar, a bad review is not something you. Honesty and an apology would have been...

🇮🇹10 must-things to do in Matera 🔽 There is no denying that Matera is like nowhere else on Earth. This southern Italian city is one of the most unique and spectacular places I’ve ever visited in Italy. Here are my top 10 things to do in this beautiful city: 1. Stay in a Matera cave hotel 2. Don’t follow a map, wander and get lost 3. Enjoy panoramic views of Matera from a view point (Piazza San Pietro Caveoso, Above Church of San Pietro Barisano) 4. Watch a sunset or sunrise in Matera from a viewpoint e.g. Belvedere di Piazza Giovanni Pascoli is one of my favourites 5. Have a drink at Crialoss Cafe & enjoy one of the best views over Matera 6. Explore the Uninhabited Caves of Sasso Caveoso 7. Learn Matera’s History at Casa Noha 8. Walk down into the ravine 9. Visit Matera’s Duomo 10. Venture Underground at Palombaro Lungo Have you heard of Matera? I know, I know, I’m starting to sound like a broken record about just how mind-bogglingly, tear-inducingly beautiful Matera is. But, it’s not just worth visiting for the views. In between gawping at its splendour and taking a bajillion photos of every corner, there’s actually a fair bit to do and see in the city. I’ve compiled a few of my favourite experiences, things to do, eat and see in Matera: THINGS TO DO: - Matera has a number of ancient cave churches dotted around the Sassi, filled with frescos and other fascinating historic details. - You can also visit old cave homes which have been converted into museums, to experience how inhabitants used to live. - Casa Noha is a converted 16th century home in the Sassi that has been turned into a multimedia exhibition telling the history of Matera - Stay in a cave hotel to really appreciate the historical dwellings that make the city so unique. I stayed in Caveoso Hotel, and some other good looking options are Aquatico Cave Luxury Hotel, Sextantio Le Grotte Della Civita, and Sant’Angelo Luxury Resort. - Matera overlooks a dramatic gorge, and it’s a great hiking route for a spectacular view back over the city. I didn’t have time on my trip, but it’s on the bucket list for next time! DINING AND DRINKING: - Zipa Cafe, a must visit cafe and cocktail bar built into the rocks - La Lopa, a cosy, rustic traditional restaurant serving up hearty local fare - Regiacorte, a chic fine dining spot offering spectacular terrace views - 5 Lire Matera, a quick serve pizza joint with a balcony overlooking the Sassi - Area 8, an achingly hip multi-purpose venue that serves up food and drink, as well as DJ sets and live entertainment. Wes Anderson has been here, so if that’s not a seal of approval I don’t know what is. - Crialoss Cafe for a spritz with panoramic views Let me know if you have any other Matera recommendations, or what else you’d like to know! #italiait #visititaly #visititalia #italytravel #italy_vacations #italy_destinations #italyholiday #travelitaly #uktravelblogger #matera #materatravel #materaitaly #visitmatera #europe_vacations #europedestinations italy travel destinations, matera italy travel
