Fantastic traditional food from the region in a beautiful location. We ordered the sausage pasta, cod fish (Bacala) and verdura (greens). Everything was delicious, fresh and cooked perfectly. We got the house wine which was not amazing (but for 6 euros we couldn’t really complain) they had better bottles on the menu and would recommend getting a nicer bottle of wine over the house wine. We got a table outside and the view was amazing. They were very busy so would recommend booking a day in advance if you want to eat at peak time (between 8.30 - 9.30). It was one of our cheapest dinners in Italy and overall amazing value for money - we would recommend having a meal here if you’re in Matera.

We were searching for a lunch spot and, after reading the reviews, decided to try this place. The food was good, but the service fell short of our expectations. We ordered the house wine (which was obviously not that expensive), and requested wine glasses. However, we were served in the small glasses shown in the picture below and were told that this is how the house wine is served. When we pointed out that the table next to us had the same house wine, but white, and received proper wine glasses, they insisted that it wasn't house wine but a bottle poured into a decanter. This was a lie since I specifically asked the next table about the wine they were serving, and they confirmed it was house wine. This experience left us with a bitter impression, and I can't understand why they treat tourists this way.

This is not "just" a restaurant. You will experience here what does "matera cuisine" mean. It is a mix o ancient typical flavors (must try: crapiata, fave e cicorie, tette delle monache) with a modern taste served by a very experienced and enthusiastic cook (must try: ricotta cheese, eggplants and pork knuckle). From starters to desserts, you will be guided through a journey, not just served with the meal you will order. Cherry on top: waiters and cooks make you feel confortable as you are seated at home and happy as you are their best client ever.

Most friendly staff, delicious food and wine. We almost licked the plate, it was that good. Pasta served in a pan was completely eaten by our toddler. Across from one of the best viewing points of matera, it made the night extra special to see the lights after a great meal. Everybody was so jolly, there was loads of laughter. Reserve in advance, we tried to walk in the day before and had to come back next day. But it was worth the wait. Hoping to come back again!

I don't know, maybe it is just one of many touristic places in Matera, I had no local to give me a hidden hint. But if this is a typical tourist trap here, than all major Italian cities should come for a lesson. Amazing quality food, very smart and carefully selected menu, great plating, awesome service. All in one a great place to make a break and enjoy some special taste. Looking forward to coming back again some day.

Delicious food that's typical for the region. Friendly and speedy service. Very economical prices. Amazing view of the sassi and Skyline, especially at night. Make sure to reserve ahead and get a table out on the terrace. Try the mashed beans or one of the pasta dishes with black chickpeas. We paid €40 for 2 starters, 2 mains water and half a liter of the local red wine. Highly recommended.
