We dined here last week on our visit to Matera. If I could rate it 6 stars, I would! Firstly, the restaurant decor is stunning, a very nice setting to eat in. You can eat inside or outside. We chose to eat indoors because they had air conditioning. The waiter we had was excellent, extremely friendly, and spoke perfect English. I have been learning to speak Italian for a while and he kindly let me practise a few phrases with him! The food was absolutely incredible and of the highest quality. Our waiter informed us that the cold cuts were sourced from local free roaming animals, and was very informative about the dishes we ordered, which are typical of the cuisine in the Basilicata region of Italy. The restaurant is a short walk and easy flat walk from the historic centre. We were extremely happy with our visit to this restaurant and would strongly recommend it to anybody visiting Matera!

Very good food and excellent service. I had a pasta dish that had 2 types of pasta in it, one being a cheese stuffed ravioli that had cinnamon in it, which went great with it. Then I had the horse meat that was so tender it just broke apart upon touching it with my fork. It was accompanied by bread and cheese balls covered in a tomato sauce. I liked the food so much and noted that they do pizzas also so made a reservation for the next evening but the manager told me they no longer do pizzas. Not sure why. Still highly recommend this trattoria. Whatever you do, even if you don’t eat desserts, get the tiramisu! It’s incredible. Again, about the service, our waiter was very responsive, considerate and informative.

Had an excellent experience in this restaurant located close to San Pietro Barisano church. The first dish was"Pasta mista di conchiglioni e calzoni di ricotta alla contadina con sugo di pomodorini, pomodori secchi, salsiccia pezzente con fiocchi di cacio cavallo" were fantastic: the calzoni had ricotta and cannella inside, which created a sweet taste in contrast with the tomato sauce... Delicious! Then I went for a traditional second, the pignata, which was very rich and very well prepared... To think this was a dish for the "poor" back in the days! Prices is affordable, so this restaurant is definitely a place I'd recommend.

All good, the local rose has very unique fragrance on the nose as well as in the mouth but not so sure if we like it. The dish of chickpeas with chicory has a hint of fried shallots, the smooth chickpeas mashed with bits of crunchy bread made a good contrast in the mouth. The dish of lamb stew was a fun presentation and the lamb was super tender but the soup itself was a bit too salty unfortunately. Mixed Salad was a bit disappointing, lots of iceberg lettuce, not so interesting. Almost forgot, the bread served before meal was very good and the local olive oil made the yumminess to the next level.

Amazing traditional dishes, made with local produce, cooked to perfection ! We ordered a tartare with summer truffles, delicate, fresh with the highest quality local meat and truffles. The pasta with pepperoni cruschi or dried crunchy red peppers, a local speciality, was delicous, and so was the "pasta mista"(mixed pasta); conch pasta along with ravioli filled with cheese in a cheesy tomato sauce. As for the second, the pork cheek with crispy zucchini , carrot and potato puree was DIVINE! Melt in your mouth meat and that sauce !!! 🤤 Highly recommend this place for a relaxing and delicous meal

Siamo stati a cena sabato sera su consiglio della guida che con l'Ape calessino ci ha fatto scoprire le bellezze dei sassi di Matera al tramonto, un tour di 45 min davvero suggestivo e raccontato con passione e dovizia di particolari. Consiglio davvero ottimo perché da Stano oltre ad un locale molto bello su due livelli con soppalco a vista, ritrovi tutta la genuina passione x la cucina tipica materana con prodotti freschissimi locali. Le portate molto ben presentate sia visivamente che verbalmente dal personale di sala che oltre ad essere molto gentili sono anche preparatissimi nel raccontarti l'origine dei prodotti e la composizione dei piatti. Una volta accomodati al tavolo, in attesa della comanda ci hanno portato oltre ad una bottiglia d'acqua, anche un cestino con pane casereccio e un piattino con olio d'oliva locale x fare la scarpetta😋. Partiamo con un tagliere di formaggi locali e una composta di fichi ed altrettanto di salumi locali misti tutto molto buono. Due primi...uno spaghettone alla crema di datterino giallo, stracciatella con mollica croccante ed un vermicello alla San Giuannino con sugo di pomodorini capperi acciughe e olive, due calici di Verbo rosato 13° vitigno Aglianico, e in fine due caffe...ci fermiamo qui perché non eravamo più in grado di mangiare altro...peccato aver fatto l'aperitivo c'erano altri piatti nel menù molto interessanti😋. Conto assolutamente adeguato al cibo ed al locale...se siete a Matera un pranzo o una cena da Stano non vi deluderà.
