Caution for all customs who look foreign: don’t come here. The town is not so nice to people who look of Asian decent even if you don’t even come from Asia. This was the same here. My partner and I calmly waited here for 20 minutes with clearly no one servicing us on purpose despite waiting patiently with a menu and looking ready to order but not flagging them down rudely as some other tourists would. Then after 20 minutes we tried to really establish strong eye contact with them but they fought to avoid eye contact . Despite the fact, everyone else (at least 4 various parties) who came after us (who do not look foreign) were serviced shortly.
The people sitting behind me who were also foreign looking was unable to pay despite repeated attempts to kindly ask for payment. It was too transparent that we were not welcomed but the business could not legally refuse us. It is rather sad but my partner who is not foreign looking also noticed and proactively left after we were the only obvious two people they ignored to service.
To all “foreign” looking people: have some self respect and don’t patronize this place. There are better places with better views elsewhere in this town (we managed to find even a better place after 3...
Read moreAbsolutely disgusted with the behaviour and service with the all the staff from start to finish in this cafe, as we walked we waited for a table when there was tables available, I then had to ask for a menu 3 times before getting one. The menu was then thrown down in front of us which I believed was disrespectful, but this ordered our food we repeated our order 3 times to make sure it was correct, our food was thrown in-front of us the second time and was missing an item. I went to the till to order my butter croissant which took 3/4 minutes which was thrown and nearly fell off the till, so I put a coin on the desk in a bit of frustration thinking why this is happening, as I turned he threw the 2 euro coin to my table which hit the window and fell to the ground and then the waiter which had glasses with curly longish hair came to have a physical fight with me and swore at me in English 3 times before rushing off to the toilet. Not one member of staff come to apologise, after 2 minutes whilst we was absorbing what had gone on a women come to tell us to leave.
Please don’t not visit if you care...
Read moreWe stumbled upon Café del Pess while walking through Menaggio, and it turned out to be the perfect spot to slow down and soak in the charm of Lake Como. Sitting outside, right on the main square, you get the most gorgeous view — colorful buildings behind you, the lake in front of you, and mountains in the distance. It honestly feels like you’re inside a painting 🎨💙.
The coffee was smooth and rich, the pastries were fresh and delicious (especially the jam-filled cookies and the slice of cake we tried), and the vibe was so relaxed. It’s the kind of place where you could sit for an hour without realizing it — just watching the quiet rhythm of the town and the glimmer of the lake.
The service was friendly, and although it’s in a prime location, it didn’t feel overly touristy or rushed. If you’re in Menaggio, I definitely recommend stopping here — whether for breakfast, a sweet treat, or just to enjoy la dolce vita with a cappuccino in...
