I cannot put simply into words how disappointing this restaurant was. My family of 7 were ripped off. Excessively. We went into the restaurant thinking it would be good due to the large number of customers outside. Unfortunately, we were fooled by this facade.
For starters, the food was expensive. We wouldn't have minded if the food tasted good though. The menu offered many options that sounded promising. However, its execution fell flat to our expectations. The pizza did not taste good. Instead, it tasted more like a frozen pizza chucked into the oven hurriedly. Also, drinks were not included in the menu. You do not know the price you are being charged for. We were charged 3.50 euros each for an iced lemon tea and an iced peach tea.
It started raining towards the end of our meals. We were sitting outside under a big shade that was not enough to cover all the diners. The staff only brought out an extra shade for one side, and left another side exposed to the rain (which coincidentally, is our side. was it really a coincidence, because we are an asian family). Thankfully, my family had already finished dining. However, the couple beside us were eating in the rain, with their already horrible tasting pizzas soaked in the rain. The staff observed this situation, but did not do anything to amend it. How outrageous is that? And they also took away the pepper and salt from the couple while they were still eating (which you have to pay for even if you did not use). Another old man had to hold up his own umbrella while having his soup. Isn't it basic customer service to ensure that your customers dine comfortably?
The restaurant only accepts cash. Located in Mennagio in a very touristy spot where tourists are literally everywhere. It does not make sense at all to not accept a credit card. After reading several reviews, we found out that it was perhaps by their own choice to refuse a card payment. There was a review that mentioned the card payment was accepted when they told the restaurant they had no cash. It is simply unimaginable why a restaurant in a tourist spot would not accept a card payment. We were 2 separate families, and we also could not split the bill.
Lastly, we were EACH charged a service fee of 3 euros. This was atrocious, considering we did not receive outstanding service. We felt so cheated for being charged 21 euros for below subpar service and food.
My family learnt a lesson from this. Do check the reviews before entering a restaurant. There is another restaurant with an outstanding view of the lake with amazing food and service (although the prices were similar) in Ossuccio, a 15 minute drive from Mennagio. You could go there instead to enjoy a more pleasant...
Read moreI wish i could give zero stars to this place and i wish i read the reviews beforehand. Not that my review is gonna change much despite seeing so many people posting and the owner of the place has not taken any actiom to change their horrible service and behaviour.
Went to this place as it seemed decent. The pizza was frozen, and the portions were tiny. Ordered melanzane alla parmigiana and i have to say, this was one of the horrible places to eat. Not authentic at all, way too much cheese and not even warm not to say we expected a hot meal. (I am born and raised in italy and ate italian food all my life - so i completely know the difference between an authentic place and some frozen food).
Staff was rude and talking about all customers in italian thinking everyone was a tourist. - they complained about how a customer asked for an extra plate or for a meal to be made in a specific way due to personal preference. They complained on how they wished they didnt allow some customers to come in as they had one to many requests.
During paying the bill i was overcharged of £23 euros. which didnt add up and on questioning the owner, i got my money back but she was very abusive and arrogant. I had to address this to which she started speaking loudly and begame very aggressive. I told her there was no need to be so arrogant and to speak loudly and she then started shouting. Clearly, she doesnt like to be in the wrong and fault.
On top we were charged some ridicolous prices £5 per can of coke and £5 for a bottle of water which was not in the menu. We had to pay £3 per person to dine in.
They only took cash, and the change my 2 friends received was innacurate.
This has been one of the worst experiences ever in Italy! I usually do not leave reviews but i felt the need to leave one and make people aware how unprofessional and abusive this people are. Highly reccomend people to go elsewhere if you want to have a nice experience and have a...
Read moreI visited this pizza place in Menaggio, hoping to enjoy some delicious, authentic Italian pizza. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but enjoyable. The food was so bad that I felt compelled to leave a very long Google Maps review to warn others.
First and foremost, the pizza was not fresh. In fact, it was a heated frozen pizza that wasn't even well heated. The crust was soggy and the toppings were bland and unappetizing. It was clear that no effort had been made to make the pizza fresh or to give it any flavor.
To make matters worse, the prices were exorbitant. For such a terrible meal, I felt like I had been ripped off. And on top of that, there was a service fee of 3 euros per person, which is extremely high for a pizza place. I couldn't believe that they would charge so much for such a poor experience.
Another thing that really bothered me about this pizza place was that they only accept cash. In this day and age, it's unacceptable for a business to not accept credit cards or other forms of payment. Especially in a touristic area like Menaggio, where many visitors may not have access to cash, it's extremely inconvenient.
Overall, I would not recommend this pizza place to anyone. The food is terrible, the prices are too high, and the service fee is outrageous. Save yourself the trouble and find another restaurant in Menaggio to enjoy a...
