Pesin — Restaurant in Menaggio

My family and I ordered 4 tagliatelle with ragu for dinner as the menu does not have much pasta selections. When they arrived, the pasta was not warm, let alone hot. We informed the waiter and he took the plates away. Within 2 minutes, he brought back the same plates of pastas to us. We were shocked, as instead of preparing new ones, the chef heated the 4 plates in the microwave for a minute and sent them back to us. Of course, the pasta came back not hot again. We told the same waiter that we cannot eat the pasta as they were not only not fresh but reheated, and pasta was really soggy. He told us that that all their pasta is pre-cooked and when customers place an order, the chef would just reheat the pasta and serve them. There is nothing more they could do. We told them that they cannot run a restaurant when food is not served hot, therefore we cannot eat them. He told us it is a bistro, not a restaurant. We said if the restaurant has good menu, food must be fresh and served hot. The manager refused to cook new pasta and insisted we paid for them even when we did not consume the pasta and that it was not of satisfactory quality. We refused to pay and asked to speak with the manager. The manager did not want to speak with us, instead communicated through the waiter. In the meantime, each communication took about 10-15minutes, and after approximately 40-minute wait, the waiter told us that we had to pay for 2 portions. In the end, to avoid any further delay, we paid (with cover charge) and left without eating the food.

If you are looking for hot food, this is definitely not the place to go. Please avoid at all costs even though Menaggio does not offer any good eating place. The only good thing about Pesin is the Sri Lankan waiter. He did his best to help but the manager...

The waiter was super rude (he apologized at the end but still) and we waited extremely long to be served and when we finally ordered we had to wait almost an hour until we got our food.

Because they had forgotten about us and what we had ordered - then within 5 minutes they brought out our pizza, which could not have possibly been baked freshly in 5min) it also tasted like microwave pizza.

He then also managed to mix up my order with the one from another table, so we had to get up and resolve the issue ourselves.

All in all bad food and bad service. Great location though, you might want to consider hiring new waiters and a new chef 👍🏽

The experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. The hostess was rude and dismissive from the start. We waited for 15 minutes while she repeatedly walked past us, completely ignoring our presence. To make matters worse, she ended up giving the table to a couple who arrived well after us. When we expressed our frustration and said we were leaving, she simply replied “ciao” in a dismissive and disrespectful tone. We felt unwelcome and mistreated.
