Restaurant-Pizzeria Lugano — Restaurant in Menaggio

Shocking service. Very understaffed. Waited 30mins for a table without anyone seeing to us. Waited another 20 minutes for somebody to take our order. Got the food after 30+ minutes and they messed up our order. We ordered 2 pizzas and only got 1, assumed they would bring out the 2nd pizza but they didnt so had to find someone after 15minutes and they tell us they thought we ordered only 1 pizza.

By this point I said just give us some chips thinking it would be the quicker option. After 20minutes they then bring out a pizza with chips loaded on top of it (who would even order that). I said we just wanted chips so they said they will bring it out in 5minutes. 15minutes later somebody said it will be out shortly. We waited another 20minutes, by this point I was fed up so just wanted to pay the bill and go. Had to go find someone again as they dont have any staff waiting the tables. The guy was surprised that I hadnt got my order yet, and seemed to have a discussion with someone in the kitchen, by the looks of it nobody even told the kitchen staff about our order so we were basically waiting for nothing. I didnt even get an apology or anything. They even charged an extra €3 service charge when we didnt even get the food we ordered or any form of service. SHOCKING! AVOID. Added...

I truly don’t understand how this place is so highly rated (at least on Google). Sadly, we had a terrible experience.

We were seated inside in the downstairs section. We waited a very long time before being helped, as did many people around as us we saw several other tables confused about the service. We finally ordered and everything was disappointing. We were supposed to get sparkling water, but we got still. The “bufala” pizza we received was clearly not what we ordered (even though our server called it that when she brought it to us) as it tasted like plain cheese. The margherita pizza was wet, soggy, and lacking any flavor or crispiness. I didn’t like either of them. We also had to cut the pizzas ourselves with a fork and knife.

The other tables were served breadsticks and bread baskets, but we didn’t get any. There were live five spiders in the corners of the walls by our table, as well as dead bugs.

Nobody understood where to pay. Apparently we had to go outside then upstairs. It looked like there was only one man cooking the pizza, who looked like he was working hard, but the rest of the service was crazy slow.

This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve ever had, but we just tried to laugh it off. Would...

Service: We walked in around 14:00. We weren’t tended to by a waitress until about 14:20 as they were quite busy. When a waitress got to us, we wanted to order pastas, but were told that their kitchen “closes” at 14:10 and they only serve pizzas until 14:30. Surely they could’ve at least told us when we walked in?? So we had to look at the menu again (under pressure now as the waitress stood there waiting for us) and order pizzas. It also upset us that we saw another table was served pastas and they had ordered not more than 3 minutes before we were told that we cannot order pastas now.

Food: When our food arrived, we were all smiles! My wife ordered the Lugano pizza (same name as the restaurant) which was phenomenal! So tasty!! One of the best pizzas she’s ever tasted (and we’ve had very tasty pizzas in Naples, so we have high standards). My calzone (Calzone Farcito) was fairly good too.

Conclusion: If you can deal with bad service, this place is worth the visit. Maybe you get lucky or come on...
