Mixed Experiences at Trattoria Aurora.
My recent dining experience at Trattoria Aurora in Milan was a blend of highs and lows. The restaurant itself is impressively large, offering a diverse range of Italian dishes that cater to various palates. However, it's important to note that the prices are on the higher end. While I understand that quality comes at a cost, when compared to other local establishments, Trattoria Aurora's prices felt a bit steep.
Initially, the service left much to be desired. Our server was notably rude while taking our order, which dampened the start of our meal. However, I appreciated the staff's honesty and humility when they apologized towards the end of our visit, citing the restaurant's busyness as a reason for the earlier brusqueness. While it's understandable that a busy restaurant can lead to stressed staff, it's not entirely excusable, especially when it affects customer experience.
On a positive note, the food was delightful. Each dish we tried was flavourful and well-prepared, showcasing the skill and care in the kitchen. The quality of the cuisine was a redeeming feature of our visit.
In summary, Trattoria Aurora offers a mixed bag - excellent food at a higher price, with service that can be hit or miss depending on their busyness. If you're seeking tasty Italian cuisine and are willing to overlook potential service hiccups, it's worth a visit. However, keep in mind the prices and be prepared for a potentially rocky start with...
Read moreMy AirBnB host recommended this place for traditional food. We did not not make any reservations to dine there on a late Saturday evening. It was busy, but my partner and I were seated promptly, perhaps luckily. Their entrance is plastered with multiple Michelin Guide recommendation stickers spanning between 2008 and 2016, so that was cool lol.
Our server was very friendly and spoke English decently. The restaurant offered us this complimentary warm fried cheese dish that was very good. We also had their house red-wine, which was pretty good; mild, but slightly dry. Definitely get the osso-bucco. I got the steak w mustard sauce. I felt it was good but not exceptionally good as it seemed to be described. I was told the mustard sauce was very special. It could be a difference in palette. The mushroom pasta was very good. We had tiramisu as the dessert and it was one of the better tasting ones. Overall, I really enjoyed the dining experience and would recommend for...
Read moreLocation is nice, service was decent and food had some ups and downs.
Starters: very good, but 14€ for literally 3 shrimps on bread (see pictures - one was missing there) with a quite bad presentation (plate looked like a spare one randomly found around the kitchen). Vitello tonnato very good too, but also there the portions are not at a trattoria level especially for the price.
Main course: Tagliata di fassone (24€) was good, properly cooked even if not abundant. Roasted potatoes were excellent.
Wine: good. What you expect for 30€ bottle.
Desert: we took a sort of chocolate pudding and ice cream. Aligned to expectations.
Overall a fairly...
