I like visiting jazz clubs when travelling and often do so. The Milan Blue Note is larger and plusher then the norm and well run and organized. Orders are via waiters and staff are friendly and helpful although a bit rushed. The music offering is top notch. So why just two stars? Well like many jazz clubs seats are unumbered and coming early gets you a good place, so being into the music we came early. Turns out that the tables are divided into those reserved for diners and those for people like myself who just want to see some jazz and have a few drinks. Unfortunately almost all the tables are for diners with a few at the back or to the extreme left of the stage for people like me, or upstairs in the circle. So I payed 60 euro for two tickets +10-20 euro on drinks for a 90 minute show where, despite arriving early, we had to sit...
Read moreMy partner and I were refused to enter because they didn't scan my partner's covid pass correctly. We had already traveled around Italy and used our covid passes with no issues, but on this occasion the manager of the venue said that my partner's pass was not valid. We have both been vaccinated and have a valid covid pass, my partner had also done a covid test 3 days earlier as he flew to Milan to visit me. After being treated pretty badly we left and dined at another restaurant, where our passes were scanned and accepted, as usual. The manager of Blue Note also told me that they'd refund the tickets only as "a favour". I was shocked to see so much incompetence, given the great reputation that the value has. Needless to say that I was pretty upset. We had just gotten engaged and they ruined our evening. Definitely never...
Read moreWent there for an 8pm show. It was quite a disappointing experience. The food was BAD, much below average Italian level. The choice in the menu isn't good, but also the execution of the dishes. We had two types of pasta and none of it was good. The wine by glass also was bad, which you definitely wouldn't expect from such place. The show (Richard Bona band) itself was also not of our taste, but at least we were hoping to enjoy nice food and a drink. None of it happened. Felt like a total waste of money and time on Saturday night. Love the idea of a Jazz bar, but they need serious improvements on the food&drink side.
On the positive note, the...
