An Asian smile in the heart of Milan - A must-visit, especially for those who, like me, love Southeast Asia - its profound spirituality, peaceful and joyful culture, and unparalleled kindness.
Finally, in the bustling heart of Milan, you can find the warmth and radiant smiles of Southeast Asia. Amidst sculptures evoking the sacredness of Theravada Buddhism, you leave behind the harshness creeping into Milan and the shadow of the magnificent Madonnina. Instead, you step into a world of warmth, smiles, and respectful “wai” greetings - a gesture of reverence and respect. When was you last greeted in Milan with such genuine courtesy?
The service mirrors the Asian spirit: attentive, polite, never loud or overbearing. It’s far from the clinical and Confucian-style efficiency of Chinese restaurants - it has a charm of its own.
Dishes are served promptly. The food? (Almost) authentic Thai - less spicy, tailored to Milanese palates, but it works. It's genuinely good and satisfying.
The ambiance, especially in the elevated dining room, is immersive (book here). It feels like stepping into a Southeast Asian lounge - softly lit and serene. Sure, there are no lush forests, oceans, or the breathtaking views of humid islands, but it invites you to dream.
The price? Very reasonable, especially for Milan's standards.
A place worth enjoying - not just once, but several...
Read moreI was looking for a break and decided to search out Thai. I do Bangkok a lot and we have great Thai in Seattle. Ok what I didn't like. 1. Tasteless.. not a Thai flavor...Stir fried chicken Basil and Chili etc. No flavor. 2. Price .. I do Panang Curry but 20 Euros...glad I did not. 13 Euro for very small portion...too small for me..just one person. 3. Thai fried spring roll no better than what you get after microwaving a grocery brand from freezer section..Tasteless. I am sure it was frozen. The most basic and important aspect of Asian cooking is steamed rice. The rice was "gloppy"...capital G. There was nothing about this experience remotely close to great Thai food. Fake ... give me a break.
Service a bit disconnected.. Seems Chinese, Indian etc. I can't believe Chef or kitchen are Thai..if so should be ashamed. What I liked. Well the ambiance is good .. but on road..closed in no view no water etc. I don't suggest this place. Oh well. I tried. This was 30 Euro dinner with small beer. Way...
Read moreAtmosphere is great, the place has various sections and they're all unique in their own way. We had a table upstairs with the recessed seats (not the most comfortable for everyone), which was a pleasant surprise. The appetizers were good and the pre-appetizer with Prosecco and prawn crackers were a nice touch, although that's not really a Thai drink... Unfortunately after this the food was less of satisfactory, the portions were decent sized but the taste wasn't really on the level, almost as if it was watered down. Chicken was not even nearly as good as it was with the appetizers and the sauces also seemed stale in comparison with the appetizers.
There are plenty of nice Thai restaurants in Milan with the same or lower price point.
A shame with such nice location with unique interior and atmosphere, too bad for the food. Luckily, that's not a hard thing to fix... Just do it authentic like you'd do at home...
