casa lucia — Restaurant in Milan

We trusted google reviews but the trust was misplaced in this case. While the service was pleasant, Casa Lucia is way overhyped and seriously overpriced for what it offers.

Appetizers are EUR8+, most pasta first courses are EUR20+ and second courses are EUR25-30+, desserts are EUR10+.

In addition, half liter mineral waters are EUR4 and the cover charge is EUR4, thus simply sitting down already incurs a EUR8 hit per person.

Putting prices aside, the quantities were dismal. The pasta (EUR16) was but a handful; my friend who ordered the beef stew (EUR25) was taken aback by the tiny serving which he finished in literally four spoonfuls. The roast beef (EUR24) consisted of a couple of very thin slices not anything like the photo on the menu and lacked any flavouring. The salmon (EUR24) had no sides at all, just a small slice of pan fried fish on a big empty plate; we had to order a side of fries (EUR8) to supplement it.

All in all, we had high expectations but everybody agreed that it was a terrible decision and none of us would consider returning. There are so many other options in Milan that offer a far better value...

Non eravamo mai stati un questo ristorante e abbiamo deciso di provarlo in occasione di un'uscita con amici. Il locale esteticamente si presenta bene, curato ed elegante il giusto. Per quanto riguarda il cibo è stata un po' altalenante la qualità. Abbiamo preso come antipasto l'uovo poché con tartufo e taralli, che ci ha lasciati un po' perplessi dato che era abbastanza blando, i taralli posizionati sotto all'uovo, che dovevano dare la croccantezza, non ci riuscivano, e per di più erano al finocchietto, che copriva il sapore del resto. I primi già meglio, anche se qui c'è stato il vero problema. Io ho preso una pasta con fiori di zucca e ricotta che era ok, mentre la mia ragazza ha preso la pasta alle vongole che purtroppo le ha dato un intossicazione alimentare la mattina del giorno dopo, anche abbastanza debilitante, probabilmente dovuta alla qualità del mollusco, cosa che sicuramente non ci aspettavamo da un ristorante con costi non indifferenti. Per carità, sicuramente la loro materia prima migliore è la carne, ma non per questo il resto deve peccare, anche perché altrimenti conviene direttamente non proporlo nel menù. Il dolce è stato molto buono, abbiamo preso una crema catalana da dividere che ci ha soddisfatto. Per quanto riguarda il servizio è stato discreto ma con qualche perplessità, se poi un cameriere decide di passare dal tavolo e versare il vino nei bicchieri vuoti, che almeno abbia l'accortezza di farlo a tutti, dato che così non è stato. Nel complesso quindi è un ristorante ok, sicuramente abbiamo avuto anche un po' di sfortuna, ma non so se ci tornerei, anche per il prezzo che, data la qualità e il gusto dei piatti, era a nostro parere eccessivo...

I've been to casa lucia several times, but last time I've experiences pretty bad service. We have waited almost 1.5 hour to get our first dish.
