Gelateria Amorino Navigli — Restaurant in Milan

After a meal in Navigli, we decided to pop in for ice cream after walking past several gelato shops, as this one was quiet. We should've realised there was a reason for that. After many years working in customer facing roles, I can safely say I've never seen such a rude, poisonous member of staff as Elena at Amorino. Gobsmacking levels of petulance, eye-rolling, tutting, pointing, snapping, sighing, belittling. All in response to a basic order. Extremely unwelcoming behaviour, which is very much unlike the Milanese people.

The ice cream was mediocre at best unfortunately, a good texture but lacking in flavour. When a member of staff speaks and acts so abruptly to several customers in the store, it hardly sets the right tone for enjoying an ice cream in such a nice setting. Do yourselves a favour people, spend a little more money elsewhere, or don't give staff the benefit of the doubt like I did, have regretted not asking for an immediate refund but you can't allow one person to ruin...

The gelato is tasty but…

When I entered the shop, the floor was flooding, a senior staff was using a mop to dry the floor among the customers queuing up. An uncle was very annoyed.

I ordered a piece of creeps, and another younger staff asked me to wait, so I waited aside and walked to the counter from time to time to look around. After waiting for about ten minutes, it still didn't arrive, so I asked the senior staff, and she blamed me for not waiting at the counter. As a tourist who does not understand Italian, it is normal for communication errors to occur. I did not dare to disturb, but I was scolded instead. I've looked at the counter many times, can't the staff remind me? This staff is the most unfriendly staff I have ever...

If I were rating this place purely on the food it would be a much higher score but I wouldn’t speak to a dog in the way I was spoken to when being served. After ordering the size tub I wanted I was confronted by the staff member serving the ice cream demanding to know all of the flavours I wanted. I tried to explain I wasn’t sure how many I was allowed, only for her to tell me that I can have as many as I want. So I can have all of 20 flavours in a medium sized tub can I? I was then shouted at and berated in front of the entire store. This was excruciatingly embarrassing for all involved and I’m pretty appalled that my experience was an acceptable way to talk to customers. Really disappointing on my last...
