My partner and I have traveled extensively throughout Europe in the last 10 years and we’ve been to many places in Italy which is one of our favorite countries to visit, and I have to admit no place (not even Michelin starred ones) has moved me so much that I find it impossible not to leave a review about the wonderful food, wine and service here.
We came in 2 nights in a row. First night we came in late around 10am on a Friday because of the already fabulous Google review and its proximity to our hotel. Please note the restaurant closes at midnight and it was the last hours of their service. The food, the service were nonetheless both impeccable and we adore the family resto ambiance.
Without much hesitation we decided to come in again the next evening around regular dinner hour 8pm. We were fortunate enough to encounter the same waiter and this is where the magic started to happen.
Our lovely waiter remembered perfectly our preferred water choice without us asking a thing as we settled down. “Sparkling water as usual?” was his words and that warmed the hearts of us both immediately and surprisingly given that we are obviously tourists and it’s only our second night there in this busy restaurant. Then the food, the choice of Sardinian wine were excellent. Once tableware for our main course was laid he asked if we were sharing the cotoletta and the dish was then served in 2 separate plates with doubled portion chips (at no extra charge). When the gelato flavor we wanted was sold out and replaced he also served us the other available flavor in double portion (at no extra charge). Once we finished all our food and in bliss already, he came out with a full drawer of grilled nuts, a bowl of crostinis, a plate of clementines, and a full bottle of limoncello at our will to enjoy…as gifts.
It’s not quite the free treats that made us wish we were staying in Milan longer to come back again really, but it’s our lovely waiter’s way of caring for us. It was as-a-matter-of-fact-ly, it was you’re in my house and I’d like you feel most at home kind of way that he received us, with such efficiency, grace and kindness.
We observed how other waiters functioned and clearly our waiter is not alone in his way. If you’re ever in Milan, do come in here. The experience will surely make you leave with a hear full and a...
Read moreI've knocked off a star due to the ending of the evening in respect of the bill. We ordered a bottle of wine then a small carafe of wine. Fish ordered from menu sea bass cooked in salt ordered a salad each. We were given 'complintary' pizza breads so we didn't order starters. Fish came and was filleted in front of us. It was cooked to perfection. I decided to have a dessert so was taken to see what was offered and plumped for tiramisu. Some liqueur was brought to us we assumed again complimentary as no mention of cost. Then the bill. We queried the bill, the Fish had jumped from €23 each to €35 each because it was bigger. Said we asked for menu Fish no mention of size. Bill reduced but drinks added were not Complimentary. We paid but left no tip and disappointed from what started as a lovely evening in a lovely restaurant. Can recommend to eat there but wary of what you order and ask the price of each item you order including anything brought to the table. We expected a bill of €100 bill arrived €142, we agreed in the end to pay €130 after we thought were complimentary drinks...
Read moreI have been here more than 3 times this year! Love this restaurant, it is where the local eat. So it is not touristy at all. They always served warm focaccia to start it is so fresh and delicious.
You wouldn’t go wrong if you order their pasta, they sure know how to handle the pasta be the white type or the tomato based. Quite generous with the portion! Their pizza is also authentic I have no complaint on this!
All their seafood is always fresh whether it’s fried, grillled or cooked in the pasta.
You must make room for desert as they have a buffet of desserts option to choose from. I have tried their apple cake and tiramisu and it was amazing, portion is also quite big, ideal for sharing or for single serving if you are a sweet tooth. They also served a type of biscotti and meringue after coffee which I find very pleasant way to close your lunch.
The also have a working class lunch menu which price already comprise of water and coffee. Their copetto is €2 but it is worth charging that for a complete dining experience!
Highly...
